Philly Pretzel Factory on Mt Hermon Road Has Closed

Philly Pretzel Factory on Mt Hermon Road Has Closed. Don't even start the blame Jake Day garbage. The one in Cambridge also closed it's doors. It's called bad location. That tiny story stuck behind BK was never gonna make it.

only suitable for malls

I thought it seemed a crazy business venture when it first opened. Can't imagine the cost of overhead between rent, utilities, insurance, taxes labor. That's a lot of $2-3 pretzels you'd have to sell and they just don't have the traffic there to make it. More like in a mall, sports venue, college commons type place.

I believe they had small sandwiches perhaps too, but it's not the type of place i'd be excited about going for lunch.

Catering it seems to me would have been the main staple of income if any.

Baskin Robbins closed too. No ones fault but the owner there

They closed before the end of 2017. Devage's has also closed their doors recently and Baskin Robbin's is closing 4/20/18.

5:56 owners son....yeah he wasn't into running it, probably because of his attitude. They sold it which was probably a smart move by the parents!

very poorly run

Never knew why Davages was so popular. Good donuts but average everything else and crappy, unfriendly service. Staff seemed to communicate with one-word answers or grunts.

1:41 I agree, I only stopped there twice and both times they acted like they were doing me a favor for allowing me to purchase something there.

Yep, it's Jake Day's fault. If he wasn't so wrapped up in trying to be the hero that resurrected the Down Town Plaza then maybe some attention would be going towards this small businesses.

Good donuts? Those dry ass cake donuts would choke a horse. They weren't that good when they were by the college either.

Grunts? LMAO

Just my opinion, DeVage's had the best Italian cheesesteak ever and by far the cleanest kitchen and best staff in Salisbury! I loved their previous location on East Main Street next to the bus terminal as well. What a character Mr. Devage was, loved his humor and stories.

Who are the new owners of devages

Anonymous said...

8:46 a.m. and 6:57 p.m. must be family members, nobody else got treated that good unless they were family or cronies!!!! What different does it make anyway....their history! Hopefully new owners are real people folks!

Those of us who live here knew this was doomed from the start.Sometimes we feel like shaking some sense into people who have pipe dreams that have zero chance of making it.Sure it's their right to pursue the American dream, but it hurts to sit back and watch poor judgement at work.
