Congratulations to both DFC Kolb and DFC Chase on receiving a 2017 Sheriff's Salute Award.
In 2017 DFC Kolb led the entire agency in traffic stops, recording 1,235 stops during the year. DFC Kolb made 48 Criminal Arrests, including the arrest of 8 persons for Driving While Intoxicated. In addition to his performance, DFC Kolb also wrote an impressive 151 police reports during the calendar year..
In 2017 DFC Chase had yet another impressive year. DFC Chase had 13 Drug Arrests, 11 of which were self-initiated. DFC Chase arrested 5 Intoxicated Drivers, investigated 36 Motor Vehicle Collisions, and conducted 1,123 Traffic Stops for a total of 2,005 violations of the law. He also served a total of 32 Arrest Warrants, and seized 2 illegal handguns. During this same period, DFC Chase received 8 positive Performance Observations for his participation and leadership within the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office Motor Unit. DFC Chase also played an integral and vital role in up-lifting Motor Unit 3 and Motor Unit 4, when they were purchased by the Sheriff’s Office.

8 and 5 DUI arrests for the whole year? Mike Lewis made that many in ONE NIGHT with MSP!!!

Pretty sure it is inconsistent with Maryland law to base awards (read incentivize) on stops
