Lower Shore Delegation Controversy Brewing

A controversy has brewed over the votes of our Lower shore delegation in regards to House Bill 888 and House Bill 1302.

House  Bill 888 is aimed at so called Bump Stocks that gained media attention after the Las Vegas shootings.

"Prohibiting a person from transporting a certain rapid fire trigger activator into the State or manufacturing, possessing, selling, offering to sell, transferring, purchasing, or receiving a certain rapid fire trigger activator, subject to a certain exception; defining "rapid fire trigger activator" as any device, including a removable manual or power-driven activating device, constructed so that, when installed in or attached to a firearm the rate at which the trigger is activated increases or the rate of fire increases; etc.

House Bill 1302 says

Authorizing certain individuals to file a petition for an extreme risk prevention order with a certain court or law enforcement agency under certain circumstances; authorizing a certain judge to enter an interim extreme risk prevention order to order the respondent to surrender to law enforcement authorities any firearm in the respondent's possession and to refrain from possession of any firearm for the duration of the extreme risk prevention order; authorizing a judge to proceed with a final extreme prevention order under certain circumstances; etc. It also contained the "other interested parties line" that many were concerned about.

Look I am a huge lover of guns and hardcore 2nd amendment supporter. I shoot all the time and fight back against the progressive movement to take away our rights. With that being said there has been zero evidence that Mary Beth Corozza , Carl Anderton or Johnny Mautz have ever sided with or had anything to do with trying to take away your guns. Taking this one bill to make a permanent case about their desire to be involved in that game is wrong.

Annapolis is a political game that requires give and take in order for everyone to feel they are getting something they need. House Bill 888 and the bump stocks is one of those bills that working with the groups that want to take away all your gun rights is a smart play. Honestly not many have bump stocks so giving a small concession on ability to purchase is at least something to appease them. I know we shouldn't have to concede anything, but we are dominated by progressives that will continue to come after our rights and we do not have the votes to stop them. That my friends is the simple truth.

House Bill 1302's language prior to the concerning line of "other interested parties" is actually not something any of us should have issue with, it honestly is common sense to allow Judges and Mental Heath Doctors to look into someones capability to carry out a threat on someone that is documented by either party. Yes the other interested party line is the issue, as we don't want anyone with a grudge to start this process. Taking this one line and turning our proven Conservative leaders into traitors is honestly not fair. People are entitled to make mistakes and perhaps as Johnny Mautz said he messed up since that language was there, but trying to find something to keep the democratic wolves in check in Annapolis is a tough game since they hold all the power.

We need to give our local conservative representatives a mulligan on this. If they mess up a second time on bills like this then we know they truly do not have our 2nd amendment rights in mind. I have been assured by all parties if that language is still there if and when the Senate sends it back they will not vote for it.  We must not turn on each other at such a crucial time in this battle with the liberals.

JT I have a little different view, they were elected to keep our best interest in mind....to say they didn't carefully read each bill before voting on it is just wrong! A staff member should have read it thoroughly and made a report or several ask the public sessions to get public opinion. There are no do overs once something ridiculous gets passed, it's to damn late.

If they were concerned about the "wording", then they should have voted NO.

12:22 You need to step back and realize we have really great representatives of the Shore in who are currently in Annapolis, you will find no better . I'm sorry that this issue has caused you to ant their heads because that is far too extreme

"We need to give them a mulligan." Only you do. Some people think they did the right thing and are standing up to the right wing nut jobs. They aren't RINO's, they are conscientious human beings.

No mulligans. Johnny Maury made it clear he represents the agenda not the people. He attempts to lighten it in his release saying he was swayed by others. The only others he should be swayed by are the voters. He’s part of the problem
