Members from the Crisfield Fire Department assisted a boater in distress this afternoon.

Members from the Crisfield Fire Department assisted a boater in distress this afternoon. A 17' Trophy lost engine power and was stranded. Fire Boat 2 successfully towed the vessel into the Crisfield dock without incident.

i`ve always wondered how that works, if your car breaks down you call AAA and they tow you, but when a boat breaks down and needs to be towed who do you call and who foots the bill for that tow?

Bet they had Salisburys Fire Boat on call for backup....LOL

Both Towboat US and SeaTow offer towing for recreational boats since the Coast Guard no longer assists boaters unless life is in danger. Both companies offer towing insurance, just like AAA does. Nobody offers marine towing for free anymore.

Must have been someone that they know. Most folks would have had to call the Coast Guard and they charge for this service. This just sounds like the FD doing someone a favor, again, probably one of their own.
