County Residents Time To Be Heard To Keep Monument At Courthouse

THIS IS BEING HOSTED BY SURJ FOR THE RECORD. SO YOUR CALL IFYOU WANT TO ATTEND. PERSONALLY DON'T GIVE A SHIT WHAT THEY HAVE TO SAY

Because of the controversial nature of this marker and the petitions surrounding it, this town hall will be limited to
WICOMICO COUNTY RESIDENTS ONLY!

Come out to MEETING ROOM 1 at the Wicomico County Public Library on Thursday August 3rd @6:00 pm for a townhall concerning the General John Winder confederate historical marker on the grounds of the old Wicomico County courthouse.

Attendees have been asked by library personnel to enter on the Circle Avenue side entrance across from the parking lot.

Space is limited, but we will be Facebook live-streaming the townhall for those who cannot attend.

Again, because of the importance of community input, we are limiting in-person attendance of this event to residents of Wicomico County only.

The historical marker is NOT controversial. It has been there for umpteen years and nobody had a problem until that Yakahomo nut decided to make it his personal crusade. If anything should be removed it is he.

A judge will ultimately decide this.Even if a thousand show up a judge will make the call sooner or later.

A judge has no say over it so Shut the F*k Up about this and quit bringing it up because you don't know WTF you are talking about.

In the long run this needs to be done legally so the opposition to the monument will be permanently dealt with. And, the decision might be in favor of the protesters.Be sure to picket on the courthouse steps when this occurs.

My friend James Yamakawa wants to make his community better, wants to make the world we live in a better place, and that's what he's trying to do. I respect this and he's been a tried and true champion of what's right both as a friend I've known half my life, as a father, as a religious leader, and as a person. Black Lives Matter because for hundreds of years, especially in this country, they haven't. Legally, non white men have been on the same footing as property or animals in this country longer than they have been people. They would like equal treatment.

As a historian, I'm vexed that you want to keep a monument for a war where over 700,000 people died to denigrate an entire race, especially the side that lost.

You've Lost Your F in mind he is nothing but a black lover who or who can't stand his own race because he doesn't know what he's on race is this guy is a piece of s***

Sorry, pal. Just because you think you are a "historian" does not make it so and your half-baked comments make it plain that you have a distorted sense of history.

This type of controversial/political meeting should not be held at a public building like the library. Tax payers foot the bill and it is illegal to have this type of function in that building.

James you are obviously not much of a historian, because that many people didn't die during the civil war. Now move back to where you came from because you have no friends here and we don't want you.

He can't stand his own race because he is an outcast and they can't stand him. Funny thing is the black race can't stand him either.

Actually, I'm quite the historian, even won a 2500 dollar award this year for teaching history. That and my degree in History, intellectual curiosity, and my ability to read make me an expert, just as I'm sure as you're an expert at swatting at mosquitoes and driving along the 50.
But you should drive down to Chincoteague island; they have the pony's swim from one point to another. Super cute! Plenty of mosquitoes to swat!

The man is a local historic figure and had nothing to do with racism. If you want to eliminate everything racist in your judgement from America wouldn't you call for an end to the Democrat party ? How about a least an apology from the Democrat party for starting the KKK and Jim Crow laws as well as segregation. They also blocked every civil rights legislation until 1964 and still more Republicans voted for it than Democrats did.
