Lowereasternshorenews Opinion On Public Radio Funding Cuts

Much has been made recently in regards to the future of public radio with the proposed budget cuts of over 400 Million from President Trumps budget. Local stations WESM-FM, WSCL-FM and WSDL-FM are included in this discussion.

To be honest I don't see the need of public radio anymore, especially one that is being funded by taxpayer dollars. It really doesn't offer much to the community to justify such a financial investment. I can tell you honestly I have never tuned any of these stations in. I think the cuts are the correct way to go. Hopefully these stations can find some public funding to keep going, but not from taxpayer pockets

I didn't beg at all, I simply asked if able to help I appreciate. I do it for free anyway. The other differences are I'm not asking the government to fund me

I agree with JT.

public radio and tv funding should be cut
if they cant get advertisers to buy time, then they dont need to be around

If the radio stations have something offer and a dedicated listener base then they should succeed in acquiring private funding like the rest of the stations they compete against. NPR is full of leftist progressives and if they aren't required to offer balanced programming the government should provide no funding.

I agree JT....these stations need to seek their own PRIVATE funding from those that listen and support them. The government has given money out had over fist to organizations and groups that really do not supply any useful benefits to the American public. Just look at the salary's for those in CEO positions for those groups.....outrageous, there is where the money goes!

what if they just stuck to classical music and dropped ALL NPR? Would y'all support them, then? Or does being conservative not meaning supporting the great artworks of Western Civilization anymore and just being a redneck bumbkin?
