DELONTE BRYANT SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON

captureOn December 1, 2016, a Wicomico County Circuit Court Judge sentenced Delonte Bryant, 23, to Life in Prison for First Degree Murder. Bryant was sentenced to an additional 35 years, 10 of which are without parole, to run concurrently on handgun charges. Bryant was convicted in August 2016 following a three-day jury trial. An investigation conducted by the Maryland State Police Homicide Division revealed that at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Aug 3, 2015, victim Dommeir Deshields, 21, was walking on Anne and Baker Streets when Bryant approached him and shot him. Ballistics and medical evidence revealed that that Deshields suffered eleven gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced dead at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.
Wicomico County State’s Attorney Ella M. Disharoon commended the Maryland State Police Homicide Division and Detective Sergeant Sabrina Metzger for their work in the investigation of this case. Ms. Disharoon also thanked Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Karen M. Dean and Assistant State’s Attorney Jared Monteiro who prosecuted the case.
Bryant faces additional charges for First Degree Assault and handgun violations from a July 4, 2015 shooting at East Road Apartments. That matter will be set for a trial on a different date.
