Salisbury To Dedicate New Fire Station Saturday, November 5th

City to Dedicate New Fire Station This Saturday, November 5th
SALISBURY – Mayor Jake Day and Salisbury Fire Chief Rick Hoppes are proud to announce the dedication and open house ceremony for the new Fire Station 2, located at 419 Brown Street, on Saturday, November 5, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
The new facility replaces a building which was a landmark on the City’s East side.  Dedicated in 1930, the old Station 2 served as the Salisbury Fire Department’s East-side base of operations for over 80 years.  In recent years, however, it had become less-than-fit by modern standards.  In the summer of 2014, the City broke ground on the new facility, across Brown St.  In September of 2016, the old Station 2 was demolished.
The beautiful new building which now stands at the corner of Brown and Naylor streets remains a focal point for the neighborhood and its citizens.  Keeping a fire station in this location was not only important to the neighborhood, but also to the operations of the Salisbury Fire Department.  The new facility provides SFD members and employees with a state-of-the-art, full-service fire station which meets today’s demands for full-time habitation and a rapid response to emergencies.
“I am proud to say that I began my fire service career at Fire Station 2 as a volunteer member before becoming a career firefighter a few years later,” said Salisbury Fire Chief, Rick Hoppes.  “The new Station 2 is the facility our firefighters need to provide the best rapid response in emergency situations.”
Mayor Jake Day said, “The Salisbury Fire Department has maintained a presence at that address for generations.  I’m very happy that the new station was able to go up directly across the street, so that it may continue to serve as an anchor for the community, while still allowing our firefighters to be within striking distance of any emergency on the East side of town.  It’s a wonderful facility, and I encourage you to help us dedicate it.”
For more information, contact the Salisbury Fire Department at 410-548-3120, or the Mayor’s Office at 410-548-3100.

Waste of MY tax dollars.

The only waste is Day and Hoppes....the facility is first class. It lacks real leadership to make it a fully functional fire department of the City of Salisbury. Simply putting the name on the building doesn't make it a good working department.....that takes leadership and we don't have it. IF WE DID there would be a good working relationship with the county and with the wonderful volunteers.....it just isn't happening.

Fire-water by the time these fools vent your roof and knock out the walls your house is crap. Better off to let it burn. Mean while at the P.D. guns are falling apart at the range. Cars with excessive mileage. A Chief throwing pizza party's for thugs. 28 cops leaving in less than two years. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm I am moving to Delaware.

Rick Hoppes said... “The new Station 2 is the facility our firefighters need to provide the best rapid response in emergency situations.”

Funny thing is the volunteers did a much better job just a couple of months ago in the old fire station. Until Rick Hoppes and other paid firemen ran them off.

There was nothing wrong with the old fire station. That is why they tore it down so quick so no one could see the truth!!

I love how the paid firemen use their scare tactics.
