Salisbury Police Department Now Has 55 Officers Gone Since Barbara Duncan Sworn In As Chief

In the beginning of the year in April, I posted a list of all the officers that had left the department and the number was 43 since swearing in . In the following months continued reports of Officers leaving poured in and I filed for an updated list. Today just an hour ago the updated list arrived and shows we are now at 55 Officers. Salisbury is supposed to have around 90 sworn officers so just about 14% of the Police Department has taken off in the past 6 months. If this doesn't show there is a serious problem then nothing will. Barbara Duncan and her crew need to go immediately.

The ONLY one to blame for this is the Clueless IDIOT Mayor.

The concerning thing is that 40% of the 55 did not "retire" (most early to get out of there) or leave due to disciplinary issues. They were good officers who mostly left for lower paying jobs because of a total lack of leadership, gross mismanagement and zero trust and confidence in Duncan and her command staff. You can't replace 20-25 good young officers overnight. It takes years to recruit and train them. The citizens of Salisbury will be paying for this for years to come in both dollars and the rising crime rate that is sure to accompany a shorthanded and inexperienced police force. She has been nothing short of an unmitigated disaster and the effects will last for years. Sad that no one will do the right thing and fire her now before it gets worse.

It's not uncommon for police to change agencies.

Zach Converse is probably no longer able to work after Michael Rayne tried to kill him by hitting him head on while fleeing a domestic violence charge.

Some retired. Lack of support for Police is nationwide. I believe if you look at other agencies of the same size with lack of mayoral support you will see a similar trend. God Bless these men and women who put the uniform on everyday when no one gives a poop about them unless they need them. Spend some time trying to support them instead of acting like a suspect or the MSM and trashing them. Sincerely JQA

Crime was under reported before Webster got there and then he took heat when he uncovered it. The same is being done now, fudging the numbers, lowering the serious crime numbers. Jake Day knows it is being done but won't say anything. Ask the cops leaving how they do it, they are not afraid to tell.

Talked to 30 people on that list all 30 either left for another agency or retired earlier then they had planned on for the same reason. The improper, disrespectful, poor, liberal operation of the department comming from the chief's office.

I'm watching the City Council meeting and it sounds like Jake Day, Muir Boda and Jack Heath are talking about OPEB benefits. Sounds like they are trying to screw over current and future employees with their retirement and their health care benefits.

At least Jim Ireton sounds like he is supporting the employees.

If they or the county screws over current and future employees you will see bail out now and you won't be able to recruit and retain future employees!

That Department will never change until she leaves, resulting in crime never truly going down, making salisbury as ghetto as ever, resulting in no business waiting to come here. Making our economy fall more, making this city more Ghetto. Cant fix the city, until you fix the agency thats suppose to protect it.

Jake Day is proud of his endorsement by Barrie Parsons Tighlman. And we all remember what a great job she did regarding the Salisbury Police Department. NOT!

If you found another city app the size of Salisbury you would find comparable #s over the same time frame. Some go to other departments, some retire, and some weren't worth a shit to begin with. This # may be a tad extreme, but nothing to fret over.I know most on the list and at least 10 should never have been police officers to begin with. The growth of a city discourages many into leaving the force.
