Gambling The Heart Of The Issue With Marty Fisher

I have been getting more info about the problems that brought a good man into an 80,000 debt. It seems from my sources Marty had a gambling issue. Unsure of what kind whether it was online or casino but let this be an example of how bad decisions can ruin your life.

JT heard same thing. I just do not get how the F.O.P. did not know this for over three years. Some people had to know and did not help this guy out. It is just like drugs or alcohol abuse. I guess all the issues over bond is why did State's Attorney do a press release before conviction. They never do it until after the case is adjudicated. Why so soon. Hang in there Marty you will survive this you have done so much for so many. When this man was down how many went to see him in the hospital. I was there at least twice a week. How many of you FOP guys went to see him. Yet He put his neck on the line for all cops. This truly sucks. Either way he is done as a cop around here. I just hope he does not do something stupid. Hang tough Fish you know who your friends are.

You know gambling is one of those things like drugs, alcohol and cigarettes. It pulls you in. Donald Trump says it best when he tells the story of his brother who died in his 40's from alcoholism. Don't even start. Don't even try it. If you don't start then it can't end up controlling you. Human nature is to be in control and by not starting with addictive behaviors it's one way you can control your life.

JT on your other post involving this issue he was called a D/G police slang for degenerate gambler. Very sad but a illness just like the bottle, hope he is able to get the help he needs.

Didn't Captain Michael Elliott from the Sheriff's Office get popped for stealing at Treasure Beach last year? I heard he wanted to run for elected office, possibly County Executive. LMAO

JT his life isn't ruined. After he serves his time he can start a new life doing landscaping or something.

I'm glad I'm just an old drunk and not a gambler

Lock him up, lock him up, lock him up.

Investigation is still going. Expect more charges, more money missing, and additional people being held responsible for their inactions.

So what about lying on your time cards?

This case is over they got their man. Mike Lewis and other local law enforcement heads did not like this guy because he had the balls to fight them. Just look at the current contract the Sheriff's Office obtained under Fisher. I also know he fought for the cops at SPD and S.U. All the while working kid sex cases. The man also has extensive medical issues no one but people close to him knew about. I guess my question while he had our backs who had his. The last four years he just was not the guy he used to be. I noticed he became a loner. I know this does not excuse his actions he should pay whatever the cost. I just think someone on that board had to know.

Police have an extremely high suicide rate. They know they can show no weakness because their peers are like sharks on a feeding frenzy. There is no honor in supporting a broken cop. I do not know all the details but I think I have a handle on most of it. There needs to be a checks and balances on the mental health of all police. Lets face it there is nothing more dangerous than a broken cop. What you end up with is a armed mentally disturbed person working in a never ending stressful career. I wish Fisher well but all I see is a man with no outs. I do not see this ending well for he or the F.O.P. There will be no winners here.

12:39 I agree there is no silver lining here. How can a guy pay back money from jail? Also it sounds like the entire board failed. I am not sure how the F.O.P. recovers from this. I say the entire board should be held accountable. Do they have any insurance to cover this type of thing? I still can not wrap my mind around this. Marty was a great guy. What in the hell happened. If he and Jeff had an agreement this was a loan it is still wrong. If Fisher was in fact paying it back how can it not be a civil issue? I am still in shock neither of these guys had to think this was not coming out. So what happened?
