September 26, 2015

(DELMAR, MD) – On Sunday, September 25, 2016 the Maryland State Police Salisbury Barrack responded to Peninsula Regional Medical Center (PRMC) to speak with James H. Parrott, 31, of Delmar, Md., who was the victim of a stabbing.

Troopers with the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division were contacted to assume the investigation, and were assisted by the Maryland State Police Salisbury Barrack, and members of the Wicomico Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators learned Parrott and the suspect Denys A. Powell, 39, of Delmar, Md., were in a relationship and lived together at their residence located in the 1100 block of East State Street, Delmar, Md.

During the late morning hours of Sunday, September 25, 2016 Parrott and Powell became engaged in a verbal argument at their residence. During the course of the argument Powell, grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed Parrott in the back as he was preparing to leave.

Parrott left the residence and contacted family members for medical assistance before being taken to PRMC where he was ultimately treated and released for non-life threatening injuries.

The residence where the incident occurred was processed by investigators, yielding recovery of evidence related to the crime.

Powell was arrested and charged with First Degree assault, and related charges. Powell was taken to the Wicomico County Detention Center.

I have a feeling alcohol and/or illegal drugs were involved. They usually are with these domestic cases. People need to realize no good ever comes out of drinking alcohol or taking drugs. I rarely drink and when I do it's hardly any and never use illegal drugs. The only drug I ever take is an aspirin now and them for aches and pains and maybe some cold medicine when I get sick which is rare. I have a very blessed life with very little to no stress and I attribute it to living a just and righteous life and therefor am rewarded by Father God. And so far family is blessed. No drugs no criminals. Now on generation 4 and I know anything could happen but praying the parents control the children and insist they always do right and all will be well with them.
