Maryland State Police News Release

Type of Incident: Checkpoint Strikeforce
Date and Time: 09/25/2016 1800-2400 hours
Location: Westbound Route 50 @ Woodyard Road, Willards, Maryland


Narrative: A cooperative effort between the Maryland State Police, the Salisbury City Police Department, and the State Highway Administration netted the arrest of two suspected impaired motorists. Additionally, one motorist was apprehended for an outstanding warrant and one motorist charged with a controlled dangerous substance offense.

​ The arrest stemmed from operation “Checkpoint Strikeforce” which was conducted at Westbound Route 50 @ Woodyard Road in Willards Maryland. The operation was conducted between 7:00 pm Sunday night through 12:00 am. 450 vehicles were checked during the operation. The checkpoint was manned by 10 State Troopers and one Salisbury City K-9 unit. The State Highway Administration provided traffic control and overhead lighting.

​ During the Checkpoint 7 motorist were pulled to the side for additional field sobriety testing. Of these 7, 2 were arrested and charged with Driving While Impaired.



All persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

press release without names is pointless. Might as well put out something like "a motorist was caught speeding on rt 50 today". Without names, who cares?

How were their rights violated? A check point is completely legal. And those 2 people were stopped from potentially hurting themselves or others
