Ocean City Price To Visit Too High?

you should do a story on how Ocean City businesses have priced themselves out of summer dollars - hotels that require a 3 night minimum stay at $600.00 a night - renting a platoon boat cost $100.00 an hour - an hour! I know I tried to rent one last week - in fact its cheaper to fly to Disney World and stay a week in Florida for a family of four right now than it is to stay in Ocean City, Maryland. Businesses in Ocean City are just greedy and believe me they did this to themselves - why do you think tourist are leaving the OC area and discovering the towns of Berlin, Crisfield and the Eastern Shore of Virginia there you can get a good meal at a reasonable price and enjoy the attractions most of which are free.

It's supply and demand... if nobody is paying, the price will come down... which leads me to believe that there are people who are paying... so why would a business lower their prices? Just to be nice?

This happens when you allow the libutards run the show. They ALL think they are the scholastic elites. They ONLY want their rich friends to enjoy what our taxes payed for. If it's gay,Transgender, or BLM they are ALL IN!!

Ocean City like most of the more northern beach resorts have a short season. When you get down to it they have approx 90 days to make money. A restaurant that might be packed in Aug might have 1/2 dozen tables if lucky at any given time come late Sept.

Dont know about those things listed because i dont use them. However, i recently took my family to sesame place the money i spent would have covered jolly roger all three parts, trimpers rides, all three of a days meals, parking, plus gas, etc...and i still would have had money left over. I think it is more what you do while you are in ocean city as far as prices go. Plus my hotel in philly was nearly 300 for one night 3 adults and one child and it was nothing fancy either.

Willie Don-The slow gradual process of rent lowering would be necessary for businesses to lower their prices. They can't offer us a good deal if they are paying through the wazoo for rent.OC has always adjusted to the economy to any given era.It was always expensive, even when I was a kid,and I'm 63.I can't see any change in the future.

platoon boats? lol

Personally, anyone who grew up around here knows that prices skyrocket in the summer. Wait til the week after labor day, beaches clear out, prices go down, and the fun really starts.

btw, the food prices don't really change in the summer. I can get what I always get at Harborside, for the same price. Unless, I choose to go on Sunday's in the winter, where all entrees are half off every Sunday. #GetYourCrushOn

It needs to be high to keep out the trash.

True 9:58, but even if rent was lower, why would the businesses reduce the price if the people are paying? They would just pocket the difference if they were good businessmen.

$600 a night? what hotel were you looking at?
now $600 for 3 nights i can see.

oh, platoon boats are huge! they have to carry an entire platoon

btw, if i rented a boat to anyone in oc, it would be more than $100 an hour. its horrible down ther eon the water, and most of the people have no clue how to run a boat. its likely to end up on a sandbar, or dented up

$100 a hour is a lot for a platoon boat. I know the other day we got sof serv cones at Dumpster's and is was damn near $20.

Many times I wanted to stay overnight at OC...but the two and three night minimums are a problem...and the ridiculous prices...so I don't go to OC that much ....if I do its for the day..I can't go to the bars and enjoy myself because I have to drive an hour home...I just go to the beach and boardwalk..and leave after four hours...I would stay and spend money if it didn't cost so much...they like losing local dollars I guess...

Yet the 'trash' are finding places in neighborhoods to sleep in their cars in OC??

I agree $20 to rent an umbrella@inlet. I was floored and the guy was rude. I told him it was 13 two yrs ago, he smirked and said it hasn't been that price since 1987. It was clearly a lie.

If you can't afford to go, then get a better job.

Have not been to OC since 2011. I live 20 minutes away and do not like the prices, rude teens/young adults, the almost naked ones walking the boards, the foul language they use, well just everything the last few yrs we went.
I go to Lancaster PA and Williamsburg VA. Mom and I just spent a thurs.- sun in Williamsburg, we did the James River boat tour,Busch Gardens and the extreme ghost tour, ate at Captain Georges, shopped and had a blast! It cost me 181. for 3 nights hotel stay and I spend 500. for everything else.My Mom did not spend a penny because I paid for the whole trip. OC has nothing on other areas for us anymore :(

Hey Patti Harris, take ME next time!! We can leave your mom home and I'll take her place. I love to do all of those things!! I would love to be a "kept " man 😊

Ocean City, MD, the "family friendly town". Too funny!

It does not matter what they pay...

they are all brain dead and trash the place....tossing broken bottles in the facilities pool, having anal sex in the mens bathrooms, raping kids in the saunas there....

Actually, OC should have a 12 foot Fence around it with guard towers

The cost to stay is high, but I think the restaurant prices, besides drinks are reasonable. Here in northeastern pennsylvania it is close to 70 bucks or more for a dinner for 3. It is about the same in OC. And to all the haters out there, go someplace else if you don't like OC, simple as that.

The reason people hate Ocean City is because of people like you from Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York. You people need your own islands, way off the coast.

HAHA That's the truth 11:21, but I would throw Baltimore in the mix too.
