Waterspout, funnels surprise Delmarva on Wednesday

A storm system that approached southeastern Maryland on Wednesday, July 27 caused a stir of activity as waterspouts and funnels formed in the sky.

Despite some dramatic cloud effects near Ocean City and Assateague, National Weather Service warnings about scattered waterspouts and potential tornados resulted in an impressive show but not much else.

There was no reported damage, but a flurry of social media photos and videos of the sky.

It all started around 1 p.m. when a tornado warning was issued by the National Weather Service for coastal areas east of Snow Hill.
