Wow, Acme? I didn't even know they were still in business. Quite sad, since Giant had the best selection of any grocer in town.

Does this mean a larger selection of anvils?

I didn't either 6:39 until they opened in OC in recently recently. They seem to be making a comeback. I did read not so long ago that
if you don’t have a butcher nearby or a Whole Foods, Lancaster Brand meats, available only at Acme, are some of the best available for the money.

ACME used to be a great store.

A new Acme opened in Rehoboth Beach/Lewes on Rt. 1. Wonderful store with much to choose from. I complimented the cashier when I checked out about how nice it was. She said they just opened in the Spring. Hope ours will be just as nice!

What about allergen free foods?? That is one big staple about Giant that really helped me and my family as I have multiple allergies to contend with :/ I know nothing about Acme...

Actuallly, pretty sure it is Albertsons that bought Giant.

Albertsons has been on a buying spree the past couple of years, having purchased Safeway and a few others, including A&P some of which were rebranded as Acme stores, Haggen stores which some will remain Haggen and others rebranded as Albertsons.

Albertsons does own Acme which is primarily on the east coast, I've never seen one in the West.

Albertsons is one of those companies that buys and sells other companies like kids playing marbles on a playground.

It's pretty clear that Albertsons' umbrella corporation Cerberus Capital is in the business of shell-gaming grocery stores industry more than they are in the grocery store/consumer industry.

Albertsons owns many brands we all know including Acme, Save-A-Lot, Max Foods, Safeway, Super Saver Foods, County Line Liquor, Jewel-Osco, Lucky Foods, Bristol Farms and others.

The Albertsons here in Vegas come and go like farts in a hurricane, but the handful that remain have been redressed to be really super nice grocery SUPER STORES. Far nicer than they were a decade ago, when they were just grocery stores.

I would be very surprised if they branded the Giant as an Acme store.

Albertsons does not own Save-A-Lot. That is a Supervalu company.

Albertsons will brand the store as Acme.

January 2013, Albertsons LLC, acquired SuperValu's remaining Albertsons stores, as well as its ACME, Jewel-Osco, Lucky, Shaw's and Star Market brands, in exchange for $100 million in cash and $3.2 billion in SuperValu debt. The sale was completed by March 2013.
