Wor-Wic, Wicomico Co. Exec. Meet to Discuss Future of Stalled Tuition-Assistance Program

SALISBURY, Md.– Wicomico County Executive Bob Culver and the president of Wor-Wic Community College held a private meeting Wednesday morning to discuss what steps need to be taken after the county council voted Tuesday against including a proposed tuition-assistance program in the county budget.

The program, which would provide financial assistance to graduates of Wicomico County high schools, would have needed roughly $252,000 the first year and increased to eventually require about $665,000 annually from the county budget. However, in a 5-2 vote Tuesday the council decided it was not ready to include in this year’s budget, citing the need for more details to be provided.

What has the previous comment have to do with the story? They must be special.

So JT do you think that tax payers need to be paying for someone's tuition when in fact studies in Garret County have found that their tuition program doesn't help the economy. Do you think that the tax payers should pay for this tuition program in Wicomico County when there are already tuition grants and student loans available in Wicomico County. Worcester County didn't fall for Bob Culvers stupid plan. What do you think JT?

3:43 AM I'm just a taxpaying citizen & I agree with you. Kudos to the council for shooting this down. Why should anyone lock this council and future councils into a deal like this and use our tax dollars to do so? And, when you look at the way it is in Garrett County, anyone can see it is not working. Bob has already wasted enough by paying for rent, utilities, etc., on an office and then not hiring a Economic Development Director.

If for some reason this moves forward ( & I hope it doesn't ) some strict guidelines need to be in place. 3.0 or better GPA. A job guarantee & they work in the county for 2 years.

Well I see a fight brewing. Delmar Donkey has let comments through slamming Culver. Finally, he has realized Culver is not his friend. Remember when Culver was first elected and he wouldn't let the Donkey come up to his office & made him wait in the lobby. Paybacks are a bitc$ Culver. You deserve every bit of it since you think you are so smart and you have shi$ on every taxpayer in the county.

6:49. The Delmar Donkey is fickle. He's a world class flip flopper whenever he imagines he can't be the center of attention or anyone parts ways with his beliefs. He also believes he is as popular as his blog site and doesn't realize most people go there just to see what idiocy he and his commenters are spewing forth on any given day just for the pure amusement of it. It's like why people read the National Inquirer. Not for the truth, just for a laugh.

Blow hard Joe and culver, the bromance is possibly over, unless they kiss and make up.
