No More Comments Allowed On Race And Shooting Death

I have shut comments off on the Keonte Gaskins post as thing have gone so far out of control. I had over 100 comments and have grown tired of the race war it has turned into. I will make a post tomorrow

Well, it's a culture that will never change unless those within that culture take a stand. But they wont.

Its not a race issue. Its drugs and violence....Period! Its killing all ages & sexes & races. Thankfully you removed it. The family doesn't need to deal with that while mourning. Pray for our kids & community. RIP

One cannot overlook the fact that, in Maryland, gang and drug related murders are committed by minorities, on minorities. Be they black or hispanic, this is a fact. It is cultural and economic in nature. The goverment, law enforcement, churches or any other organization cannot make a difference until the families discipline and teach children a different lifestyle than gangs and drugs. Most just want to ignore the problem, or blame it on the guns or the drugs. Without a human making the drugs, and then selling them making them available to the public, or someone pulling the trigger, neither can be a threat. People find it easy to blame the inanimate as the cause of the problem. Their answer is make it illegal. Come on, it already is illegal, drugs are illegal, most guns used in these crimes are illegal in some way, stolen, or possessed by someone who legally shouldn't have them. Whether you want to blame the culture or race, if you can't see there is a problem or defend the opposition, you're part of the cause.

Truth is... The people who are only being negative needs to be quiet.. It's a sensitive subject no matter the case.. And those people don't know anything so it's not the truth, it's their opinion.. They did the right thing but shutting down comments.

I know its your thing to write about local news, but this should be an exception. We blame media for baiting riots and looking for the next ratings boost, this I feel is starting to lean that way. When you have shootings, that seem to happen every few months around here, the more you talk about them, the more the pot is stirred, not by you just reporting the facts, but the comment section where people can call out people for no other reason than to just stir the pot. The people in that apartment complex must have known something was going to happen. There has to be a point where the folks in that apartment complex and the one across the street, say enough is enough and pay attention to what their kids are doing. Todays children need to have some leadership in their life and not "the streets"

SPD needs to be upfront about the shots fired call.

I don't understand the people being angry with the police as The Daily Times reports. They should be angry with the person(s) that did the shooting. Until the community starts demanding responsibility and accountability from the people actually committing the crimes then this will continue to be a problem. A man is shot and instead of anger at the perpetrators people are angry with the police. It makes no sense. If your home was burned to the ground by an arsonist, you should be mad at the arsonist and want them punished, not mad at the fire department or questioning their response.
