Crisfield You Are On Your Own..

I'm going to state this very clearly I have never seen such a self righteous bunch of people as the people in Crisfield who get offended so easily if they don't like something you say.

Crisfield has always been a special place to me because that is where my wife grew up and graduated high school. When we started dating we would sit at the docks and just watch the water and I learned so much about the rich heritage of the area.

Flash forward several years later and I have worked hard to have an outlet like this site that reaches tons of people. It has given me the ability to provide Crisfield with something everyone in the beginning was happy about.. Breaking news and information about what was happening around them where most news agencies didn't care about them.

When Hurricane Sandy was tearing the town up I was actively using my connections and website to provide help to people who were stranded around the area.  When Marjorie Miles took over as Somerset County Schools Superintendent and wanted to go back to the combine the schools talk, I stood beside everyone and used my site to fight back against the idea. When Marjorie tried to change the School seal which was designed by a classmate of my wife's , I fought her everyday about the issue, side by side with others who cared

Police or fire incidents happen near readers , they reach out ask me find out what's going on. Each and every time I use my connections from building this site to do so. Others running animal help groups who want to get free exposure for their good deeds and financial assistance to help these beautiful animals contact me and ask me to help.

I do all of these things and never have expected anything because I cared about the people of the town.

A few years ago a large number of you contacted me and were upset that the chamber of commerce decided the boat docking which had been traditionally  along the depot was being moved into somers cove marina. I know how much tradition means like in the Crisfield High school fight with Miles so I wanted to
Use my ability to start a conversation on my site to voice that it wasn't a good move and that it should stay at the depot.

OMG heaven forbid I dare criticize the Crisfield Chamber of Commerce.. Follow this link and remember the drama

Read that before continuing here.

This brings up to this week. Several people who volunteer or work with the lions club a great organization that helps locals in need, went on Facebook to complain about the farmers market opening this weekend as well and saw it as a competition for money with the soft shell crab festival .

Here we have a great idea a fresh farmers market for residents and right away drama. I thought it was beyond ridiculous for people associated with lions club to be on Facebook criticizing a farmers market . I really wondered if that's the case why don't they ask McDonald's and shore stop to close keep people from getting any other food but soft shell crabs . Was my attitude pissy about it? Your damn right. The people on Facebook running on about it were being ignorant and it is my right to speak out about it.

Then it's starts I am a hater of the lions club. Yep that's me screw the homeless and the needy . I love how criticizing people who were 100% wrong for acting offended that a farmers market was going to open the same weekend becomes I hate Crisfield, the Lions Club, Volunteers, and anything else .

No what I hate is that the people I am talking about can't get off their high horse and take criticism without acting like I'm  a horrible person for saying it. I guess if those people are AAA members I hate AAA as well.

People who have been friends with my wife for her entire life just about unfriending us because I criticized something a family member or a friend volunteered or worked on. It is beyond ridiculous

I am not here to be friends with you, I am here to draw attention to things that need to be looked at for change. This includes the Chamber of Commerce and any other group or organization.

I have never seen any one group of people act like the people in Crisfield
have toward me since my issues with the Chamber of commerce even though I was 10000% correct. This latest falling out with even more over a just criticism of airing on Facebook by lions club people about the farmers market competing with them is the last straw for me.

There are some good people down there that can see through the elitist facade and know my heart is in right place and then there are others that I have had it out with on Facebook that are ignorant as hell. I disagree with lots of people about lots of things but I don't unfriend them because I know they are a good person. I guess in Crisfield you aren't given that .

As of this day I am not reporting anything about Crisfield . Go ahead haters and celebrate but if you really knew me at all you would know I love Crisfield and want it to be a better place but it  can't get there by being quiet.

I have to have an attitude I don't like sometimes, but it is only because of the reactions like I have received regarding this and the chamber fiasco. Situations where there was no gray area I was correct in what I said but because it was someone's family member or close friend I become a dung pile. Forget my history of fighting for these very same people in support of Crisfield

If you are one of those people who understand I'm
Not this horrible person that people say and something is needed for you contact me privately I will help you . Otherwise Crisfield  you are on your own

I am sorry that this has happened to you. I am also from Crisfield and it is not moving forward because of the powers that be. It's a shame because growing up here was a great experience and now it is nothing. I am retired and if I could afford to move I would in a minute.

According to the census reports, there are 2673 people and Crisfield, and over 20,000 in the lower Somerset County area. I find it difficult to believe that all 20,000 people suddenly hate you. :-)
My point being, Jonathan, that you do great things, and cannot allow your self to be discouraged by the actions of a few.

I'm sorry to see you have been treated this way. The chamber has its issues , God knows some people in this town have their issues but you are a good person and don't deserve this.

I'm sorry for Crisfield..your strong and will bounce back where it matters. I like most... was not born here but came here 13 yrs ago and like others if I could I would move in a heart beat. Some of the people who have lived here or born here and lived else where see what really needs to be done..money is not accounted for in most of the agency's , this town gets pissed when you talk of making changes..If you look at all the homes around it shows how many are getting out..and I for one as a now crisfielder..and very offended by the sign coming off of 13 that states welcome to crisfield..we like Visitors..that is a big statement all by it's self..they want the money you spend but don't want you....In time if there are no changes here..it will be ..A ghost town..Good Luck and I'm with you !!!! 10000%

I'm sorry you've encountered such negativity, Jonathan. Crisfield is my hometown; my husband & I often seek your site for information about Crisfield since we live so far away. I hope you'll continue doing what you do because you have a passion for it. Passionate folks will always run into conflict. People will not always see your motivation, which seems genuine to me, because they are caught up in their own agenda.

Anyone who is against a farmers market is only interested in money for them self and why you're worrying about people unfriending you ? if they going to do that they are no friend anyway . too much emotions . too much reacting and not enough reasonable logic. why waste energy on this?
