Civic Center Discussion Post

I think it's horrible that they would search to find a loophole to get past this. I will NEVER consider donating ANYTHING to the county, and I hope no one else would either. It's all about money. I have lost all respect for Bob Culver and people associated with this turn of events. They care nothing about the people that live here.

None of it is true what they are saying and Senators Mathias and Eckart have been fooled. Shame on them for not really investigating this issue. Now, I assume, it is up to the Council to put the brakes on this and honor a dead man's wish. Let's hope they do.

The state government hasn't given them a way around the deed restriction, they only permitted a classification of liquor license to be available to the civic center. The liquor board still has to grant the license to the County. The County will need to deal with the courts and the deed restriction.

What about the rule of serving alcohol within so many feet of a church or school? I know that was an issue with the Shorebirds stadium....the whole thing was turned and built in such a way that the entrance did not face the church/school across the street. I can't remember the distance between that is required though....I just know Wi High is pretty close to the Civic Center. Just wondering!

And who is chairman of the liquor board?

A. Kaye Kenney! Where does she work? For Bob Culver and the County of Wicomico.

I agree with this commenter. You would have 100 comments if you had some kind of story pertaining to what you are talking about.

Let me clarify since you don't get it. I haven't even made a post about the civic center because honestly I don't give a shit. Their are however people that do and they were commenting on the Liberty street death post which was not the proper place. They agreed and asked me to make a post they could discuss it under so I did..end of story

JT - thanks for this post for discussion. Mathias & Eckardt have been fooled. Just finished reading the article in the DT's and the article in the Salisbury Independent. They are in conflict with each other. In one, Mr. Wilbur states the restriction didn't go with the land once it was turned over to the county. In the Independent, Culver makes no mention of this at all & tries to justify selling alcohol by stating "times have changed" and with BYOB events, the deed restriction was violated anyway. This smells to high heaven. Culver also mentions he has spoken to many of the Woodcock family. Seriously???? When, Where and Who?? I would love to see the evidence that he did this. (i know it will never happen, though) Keep up your honest and good work of informing us JT.
