Letter To The Editor On Mistreatment Of A Veteran By NASA Contractor

I have a story you maybe interested in .  You always hear such great things coming from NASA and wallops however that is not always the case.  Recently one of the contractors for NASA was sued by a former worker  who was a disabled veteran who was constantly harassed at work  due to his disability.  The company hired a " independent law firm  to conduct an independent investigation"  into the accusations. Since  the company was paying for the investigation there is no surprise they marked it as unfounded.  A separate EEOC complaint was filed and investigated and during that investigation it was proven that the company conducted a one sided investigation and that they also in fact forged documents and lied under oath.

The decision by the judge even cited the one sided  investigation when the court found the company guilty on all nine counts.  So when a man serves his country and is wounded in action , he gets repaid by allowing him to be harassed because of a disability.  They even put up billboards saying they support veterans when clearly they do not. They are trying to keep this very hush-hush for bad PR reasons.   The company was ordered to pay a significant sum to the gentleman for the violations.

I heard about this and that is horrible. The company that did it was LJT & Associates out of Columbia MD. When looking online I found that LJT & Associates has other EEOC complaints that are open and are being investigated for their misconduct. Apparently this company is not about its employees it is about themselves and the bottom line. Employee told me that the project managers even get a bonus if they come in under budget over the year. I guess they feel the best way to do that is to cut what employees get. A shame this is the way people get treated.

Interesting, who was the former worker?

The company won't allow that information or disclose the amount paid. LJT Likes to enforce non-disclosure agreement to keep the bad PR down... Same reason the actual person involved cannot be identified. You can always fine information with the freedom of information act...

It is hard to believe that there are businesses that are allowed to treat anyone like this, especially a disabled vet. I understand that the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace workers Union with whom this individual was in good standings with also found against him. Sounds like a lot of funny business to me.
I really hope the victim was compinsated well. Thank you for your services SIR!!

As a union member of the IAMAW I find that hard to believe. The local union will fight and has fought for me. They have nothing to lose and only want to support the union members. Generally from what I have seen the union will fight it on every front possible. The company is the problem and more people should learn about the abuse some people take such as this man. Is there a way to post a picture here? I have an awesome picture of what the company says they do for vets...

Everything about this story is untrue.

Sure it is.... People make this stuff up all the time. I know for a fact it is true.

This is very one sided and most of it is false. I work there, and have worked with the individual many times. I know the individual involved well. This story is written in the classic media way to make you feel one way or the other. There are MANY reasons he was let go. I am a veteran as well, but not disabled. Even if a vet is disabled doesn't mean the common rules don't apply to them. So if you get your disability status you are untouchable? No. You still have to be ethical. If you don't, then employers decide to not employ. That is how it works. Welcome to the real world.

This is total bullshit. He is not a disabled Vet and was never wounded period. The only wound this person has lazyness. Unfortunately this person took advantage of the system to get money. Stay tuned!

This account is totally true. This gentleman won his Dept.of Labor, federal suit, for being harassed by fellow employees on the job about the injuries he received in service of this country. I am ashamed that my fellow union brothers and coworkers would harass a disabled veteran like that.

If it was LJT - you shouldn't have the NASA logo in the headline.
Blame the correct offender please!

I am NOT a NASA federal employee but I have been following the Space Race since the Russians drew first blood!

Well maybe the Admin will change the image. If he wants a better one I can supply it. He knows where to get it or who to ask.

If I was JT I would get the story from LJT. Their reputation is being maligned without hearing their side. You are taking the word of a known liar. You even removed the name of the employee from the blog. Most of the letter posted is false. Be fair to the company. It is a good and fair organization.

Yeah sure he made all this up. That's why he won the case. That's why LJT is running scared because they have no idea what he's gonna do next! But please be fair to LJT! They never sent any forged documents into the US DOL, only to get called out on it...lol. The Senior shop steward never lied that the veteran was doing something that he wasn't! Only to prove them WRONG again! SEMPER FI!

I can't believe our senior shop steward violated his office by lying about the union member in question! I read the report! If everyone on NSROC II could only read it, they would clearly see. This is basic corruption, he helped management, went behind the backs of other union members, and assisted them in their sneaky ways. Does he know that he's opened himself up to lawsuits, and now the union can be held accountable all because of the corrupt actions of one T S, non traveling mechanical tech?? There goes his pension!

The BS is piling up on this fictional story.
