What Is The Motive Behind The Serial Arsons?

The most important thing always to look for in any criminal investigation is motive behind the incident. What many in Accomack county are scratching their heads about, is it is hard to figure out the motive in these fires. Is it a social message? A bored individual with nothing better to do? Someone with a financial gain to be had? Or is it someone with a serious sickness that sets them for a thrill?

They must be traveling by vehicle as these fires have been all over Accomack County. They must have ties to the area as many of these abandoned homes are in out of the way locations, and they always occur at night. Virginia State Police need your help, if you have any information please call.

I find it hard to believe the fire bug is a "they". No way could it be more then one. Two people can not keep a secrete this long. that's how people get cought, By running their mouths bragging.

Good point 11:30

Who ever it is, is costing Virginia a lot of money in resources that could be used to combat other crimes. Sick

Hard to analyze this person. The longer it continues the more likely it seems that he is not from Accomac Co.He seems to have knowledge of the area. One would think he lived or worked there at one time or another. If he does not have extensive knowledge of the area he must be constantly riding the roads, scoping out potential targets.I'm just glad the Va Police have not released certain tidbits of info that would generate copycats.

I think people are in these old shacks doing drugs like crack or the heron that require open flames to do. They get real real high, the flames get away from them, they are too high to put the fire out, and then they panic and run away. The next day, they need a place to get high and it starts all over again.

12:06-Your theory would make sense were it not for the sheer #s.Some most likely were caused just as you said, but not all.

Who ever it is must fit into the area. As hard as everybody is watching it must be a delivery person, or chicken driver, mailman, or somebody who nobody even notices. I don't buy the out of towner, they would stick out like a sore thumb. And crack heads won't travel very far to get high.

12:31 I believe the "too high" theory certainly has merit as well. It's a known fact that the farther south one travels on the Shore, the higher people get. Now Eastern Shore people in the middle shore get plenty high, so that means that poeople on the lower shore get incredibly high. The people using open flames probably ask themselves, "Is this place on fire or is this just the screen of a Grand Theft Auto game?" You see, they are so high, they can't tell, much less extinguish the flames.

If drug addicts were the cause, I could believe if the fires were in a town area where drugs could be bought and sold and they could bum money from people. These places seem to be in rural areas where there is nothing. So why would drug addicts migrate to any area that has no traffic to even spot the person starting the fires, let alone market drugs?

At first it seemed connected somehow to the grafitti. Now it does'nt seem likely.

I think a good motive is someone who is frustrated with the code officials not enforcing laws and allowing so many derelict properties to sit abandoned. Ever lived in an area where you see people trying to fix up their homes and their neighbor obviously doesn't give a damn?? Maybe he's just cleaning up???

Offer a huge reward! This person will be ratted out before the sun sets. lol. Money talks.

Maybe it's because code enforcement ARE enforcing to many ridiculous laws and that is very frustrating for many people.

Some of the things I see on here. Seriously? Common sense really is going by the wayside isn't it.
