Department Heads And The Media

A very hot topic the last few days is from Jim Ireton's interview over the weekend regarding media access to department heads. As a person who runs a news site I absolutely understand where Jim Ireton is coming from in limiting the access. The 24/7 news cycle Jim was talking about are things like blogs that put instant information up to the public. Regardless of what you feel about Jim the fact is he is the one held ultimately responsible for any action or word that a department head makes. It is not fair for Jim to have to react to statements made by his employees, especially when we as the media try to deliberately trick them up with the questions we ask. I have no problem with it even though at times it can be frustrating for small things, but again ultimately Jim's head is the one that is on the line.

I thought this was well said:

Perhaps Mr. Cox should just run every draft by you personally before he writes it G.A., since apparently your version of events is the only one that counts in this city. You realize that everything you are equating to fact is based solely on your opinion right? I mean, you wanna talk about vindictive- for years you have used this blog as a pulpit to personally trash every young journalist to work for the Daily Times (not to mention business people, private citizens, local politicians, our police dept. and firemen). Basically, if the Daily Times doesn't run their articles through "The World According to G.A. Harrison" before publication, than you (with the blessing of Joe of course) have carte blanche to ruin the life of whoever you like in retaliation. The funniest part is that you don't think people see that. I mean, are you getting paid to act as PR Rep/ Editorial Hitman for Joe, Debbie, Terry, and Tim? Or do you just do it out of the goodness of your heart? You think that just because they fill you in on their version of events that means you have credibility? All you have are the archaic, backdoor conspiracy theories of a bunch of mean spirited bullies- and everybody knows it. And while we're on the subject of feigned professionalism, can we just take a minute here to talk about your ego? Anybody who disagrees with you is a) too stupid to understand the English language b) too uneducated in the "real" history of Salisbury politics to be worthy of your time or c) a secret worker for the people you have openly hated for years. Why don't you wake up and look at this disgrace of a URL for what it is: an excuse to trash people when your friends don't get their way. This blog is like high school, except its even more childish because you never actually have to interact with the people you slander- you get to do it from the comfort of Joe's office. How very mature of you.

A lot of decision were made that everybody did not agree with. So who's to say who's right and who's wrong?

Funny, I posted a simple 'well said, agree completely' to that post on the donkey's site and guess what......never published.

Wow! It looks like Joe's actually publishing other people's comments for a change. I wrote this one in response to G.A., but I doubt he'll put it up:

You can all say what you want in defense of Joe and G.A. but the reality is that this city has watched for years as they have bullied hundreds of regular, hard-working people for their own entertainment. It is humorous to me that after building a career for himself solely on meanness, Joe actually thinks he deserves to represent the very people he has worked so long to cut down. A normal person would laugh off such ridiculous aspirations- but Joe, ever the optimist, actually thinks he has earned them. I would be interested to see the number of proposed "followers" of Joe measured against the number of Salisbury citizens that Joe has trashed on this blog (don't feel left out G.A., we know you helped). He thinks the people of Salisbury won't remember his eight years of capitalized name-calling, and grammatically incorrect story-telling but we will never forget- and no amount of ill-fitting power suits or sloppy self-portraits is going to change that. Jim Ireton is no saint, but compared to you Joe and lined up next to your sins, he's coming off more and more like an angel.

The county has had the same policy for years. It makes sense. No info can be released to the media without first going through the PIO/Executive office. It ensures that proper information is decimated. Any of you not getting comments through on Alberos.....get a screen grab of your comment. Remember when he cried that WBOC wasn't posting his minions comments? Tit for Tat.

That man needs to go back home, Delaware, he's trashed way too many good people and anyone who may not see eye-to-eye with his views. Nothing but a bully and a want-to-be....

Some of the best comments I have read on a blog in a long time. That Delaware curse needs to go away. Mayor my ass - just read his wall of shame to see what the Delmar Donkey really is:

2:51, very well said. Something that I was thinking and did not have time to write.

Mr. Albero's blog history is accessible for anyone to see. This little temper tantrum about it being mentioned during his political campaign shows just how unsuited he is for public office.
