It seems Marjorie Miles has now gone on the warpath about anyone viewing my website at the Board Of Ed. The word is being spread that if you are caught viewing my website you will find yourself in deep trouble with Marjorie. Paranoia rules the day in the Somerset County School System when the Superintendent spends more time checking my site out then she does trying to work with others to make the School better.

Wow! Makes one wonder what all she has to hide! She is making the board a Hostile working environment. I would say she should be reported to HR but since she owns them, what good would that do? Most of the Board of Educ. just wants to turn their heads and ignore the problem so that would be a dead end. Besides, if she "relocated" the person she thought was responsible for leaking information, what does she have to fear...unless she was wrong once again.
Maybe there is a way to have the State Board of Education come down and do an investigation???? I'd like to see her tell them that they cannot talk to the people working at the Board!

I am not a Dr. Miles fan by far, but most of the BOE employees are hard workers and spend countless unpaid hours to get their jobs done. All this hate does nothing but bring them down and ruin morale. Save the criticism for where it truly belongs.
Perhaps those who find themselves being discussed on this blog (unless they are receipients of positive comments) should think through their actions or statements before moving forward. Actually I hope they won't; whatever would I find to be so entertaining?

While I do not care for Ms. Miles and feel that she is certainly not qualified for her position, I do feel that reading any blog should not take place on school time and on school equipment. So folks - read at home.
At the last meeting Chairman Miles stated if you have a problem with the school system to contact Dr. Miles. What the hell do we elect a school board for,Dan has a bunch of nuts to work with.

I elect my school board members to listen to my complaints and issues, not to tell me to call the superintendent. If Rev. Miles can't do his job, he should quit.
Any school board member should be willing to hear from any student, any parent, any employee, and any taxpayer about any issue regarding our schools.
And, because Dr. Miles is a little tyrant, people who work for the system need to be free to go over her fat ego-inflated head to HER bosses and tell them all that they need to know about mismanagement at the schools.
She is afraid that her little house of cards is going to come crumbling down.

Most? Please! Unless it has changed just the year that I've been gone, that comment is a riot! The large amount of secretaries there are a joke, they spend their day selling fundraisers that their kids are selling, they sell chicken salad that their church is selling AND delivering it on school time. They are on their cellphones continously and it sure as hell isn't a business call. Let's not forget that the hour they get for lunch, they actually have a TV set up for watching their soaps. Most of those HIGH paid secretaries don't even have degrees!
I thought the county blocked all of the county computers from blog sites during the Jim Henderson fiasco. Have they changed that policy and now allow employees to enjoy surfing the net during work hours?

Did she specifically call out this site? If so that is wrong and what she should have said is no personal use of the internet during work hours regardless of what is being viewed. Nothing-no personel email checks, nothing non work related period.
Employees should not be doing personal stuff on the internet during work hours period.
If she allows them to check their personal emails or anything else personal besides this site, then that is uncalled for in a supervisor and shouldn't be tolerated.
You are correct 6:46, no employer should allow employees to be on the internet during work hours unless it is work related. I have a feeling county employees spend a majority of there time doing personal business on the clock. I know that is a fact is some departments, not sure about all.

Don't think the secretaries need a degree? Take a look at some of the stuff that comes out of those offices. If you could see half the emails that are sent through the year from most of them, the grammar is horrible, and spell check? I don't think most of them know how to use it, because the spelling is horrific!! And someone PLEASE tell me what Nancy Smoker does, she has one secretary that you see in schools occasionally, she has a team of three people that travel the county to work on or repair the computers and one IT guy that keeps it all running, what exactly does she do? When is the last time anyone has seen her in the schools? Guarantee she has a six figure salary!

The county certainly did block county computers from accessing the blog sites when the entire county was following what was going on when James L. Henderson got fired. If the county can block other departments I would imagine that they can block what the BOE has access to. Doesn't the same IT guy work on the entire county system? Surely we don't have multiple computer systems in this small county.
So if BJ is now the supervisor of bus transportation, who is supervisoring his violations as a bus contractor, smoking on the bus, cell phone usage, and now the camera turned off on his bus. I feel someone from the state should investigate the special ed bus.

It's the central office employee again, been looking real hard for a job, thinking about asking for a transferred to one of the schools. Morale is horrible here, I dread coming to work, now with this recent leak from central office about lower eastern news, i don't want go back this week. We will be drilled people looking over each other shoulder, paranoia is in the office. The ranting and raging that will go this week will be unbelievable! God help us all at the Central office.
The site is not available to be viewed at the school or on any Somerset County office for that matter.This is trying to control outside the walls of work. WOW!! What does that remind you of?
She might be able to block the site from County.computers at her disposal, but there'ts not a whole hell of a lot she can do about cell phones and Internet access, is there?
My friend said Marjorie come to work and talk about all the fancy dinner she eating out at. It come on a plate with the lobster tail and crabmeat and she tell the help, why you not bring me anothern right now? This site is able to see at the schools, not the teachers, but the administration of each school has its availability to do so, especially in the Dr.Loose Cannon cage, those computers are wide open on LESN!

Dr. Miles has had a chip on her shoulder since her big plan to merge the schools was shot down. If she had just let that go and took care of business everything would have been ok. With her ego that didn't happen. She locked horns with the commissioners and anyone else who dared to question her .It would be best for the students if she would give up and quit.
She will never quit! She isn't a quitter and good luck getting rid of her. With all that she has done to the school system since she was hired, she still comes out smelling like a rose! It's going to take more than Dan K and Billie Jo to get rid of her. With the many accusations of her mismanagement of funds, why hasn't there been charges? With the many accusations of racial discrimanation, why isn't there charges? We have lost more staff since she has been super than we ever have, and that is including the retirees. Ask them, they resigned because of her or retired because of her!

So when they question the 18% above central salary budget, the school supplies that didn't appear till January, and the food service issue, you think they are trying yo get rid of her? Apparently Miles told the Pac group the supplies money was in student activity account for all nine schools and CHS has over 50,000 in their account, you think Dan and Billie Jo are going to drink the kool aid? So they question her about these issues, and you think they are trying to get rid of her? Way to do the reverse psychology! Miles is crying that the food service is in the red but she forgot to remind everyone in summer/ fall she moved 81,000 out of Food service account in teacher salary account! Did you remember the 18% above budget in central office salary? Thank god those two have stepped up and ask these questions, because our board wasn't and that's what Miles was counting on. So if there is no problems and the budget is correct, teacher salary is correct, paper supplies and food service, she should be professional and show the 75 people that was in attendance at the board meetinh the answers to their questions, believe me if she could she would, but she can't!
Nope she not a quitter according to her past references work places she was ask to leave! The best thing the board and county commissioners can do to cut their loss and buy her out of her salary. Or just keep paying her salary and tell her not to show back up for work!

Plz enlighten us who have never heard of these...and yes we are in the schools and never once has that been broight up to help cover expenses like education trips...we as parents step up and have fundraisers for trips...suppliez...and every other thing that the schools have no money for. Bleacher? Thats nuts.....lets get these kids back on the front burner instead of all of this political crap.....put more mentors in the schools...volunteers for reading and math help....put,more paras in the classes instead in the board office. With all the discrepancies in the budget, there is obviously something being wrongfully done, so why hasn't the board or county commissioners done anything yet? I think the Board should send out a survey to the staff, not one that she gets the feedback on and let the staff tell them how they feel about this woman, then do her evaluation! The morale in the buildings are horrible. They don't know who they can talk to anymore because she has her buffalos everywhere, of course they are going to tell her everything they hear because as long as they are tattling, they think they are safe!
It's really a shame that the morale is so low. There are some great staff in some of those buildings. Maybe her buffalos should stampede her!
CFO has the finance accounts so screwed up that we cannot tell what money we have in these grants and what money has been spent! The finance is truly a mess, that is the worst dept. here.

According Dr.Miles the money was in the student activity account the whole time, even thou the budget was frozen for the whole year, the schools could of use the student activity account to spend the money on paper supplies for the whole year, apparently central office didn't know this information as well, including the finance dept. Moral of the story it took Central office , Dr.Miles and the administration 5 months to figure this out? Anyone drinking this Kool-Aid?
Hello board members your community is crying out to you, listen to them, do your homework.
Start by a Employee survey that the board members picks up from each school.
Next hire a outside cpa firm to diagnose our financial dept to give the taxpayers and board members a real unbiased answer.
Do a parent survey about supplies, textbooks special ed, and assistants in the classrooms.
Also to increase employee morale put a freeze on hiring firing and able to move staff around!
When its all said and done give the employees a picnic in the spring to show your appreciation of their hard work and Patience!
We heard at our school that the individual schools' budgets aren't frozen, they are BROKE! Operation RED is in affect, salaries next to come-watch an see! My school did a budget request couple weeks ago with grade level teachers to spend it quick so if you didn't order materials right down to glue sticks or paper it's not available in office? Bet those admin folks sure are glad they got their "contract raises" in time! Wonder what mystery fund did that loot get reappropriated from food service, student services (the buffaloe's voices you hear from connect Ed) bleacher fund, salaries of folks still on books rerouting their pay even though they retired or county absorbed position??? How about all that Sandy Relief???? Things that make you go HHMMMMM.....
It would astound you if you knew how much funding food services gets for the number of free and reduced lunch kids! It would further astound you to know how much money departments like special education and student services (those connected with social services). There is plenty of money however the problem lies at the top; all these funds have been oversourced to fund unnecessary positions, Miles's trips & plush new office? All the money from commissioners, state and federal never trickles to education or it's number one stakeholder, it's students! Why doesn't someone call to yellow tape the central office cease computers/the books and have mass audit; I'm sure former finance director Vicky Miller could assist the commissioners, since she is their new finance director???

Another Big Important Meeting today at Central Office, called all the principals and scearties in today and gave them the hush hush story.
Why do we have two supervisors in Special Ed? We know one works at the Board and one stays home. What does she do there? We hear she spends her time in pursuit of a Phd. Many of us would love to EARN that salary; some of us had rather get that salary while spending their working time on earning a new degree. If you can't do your job, you are awarded a promotion. Those who do their jobs well and go beyond the call of duty are kept in their same positions because they get the job done!
Who is this Brown lady and what is her position? Who are the new employees and what positions do they hold? How can we afford them? And are we actually 1.5 million in the red?
That phd is compliments of our tax dollars, hers and #2 got a grant and now Miles allow them to attend grad school doing work hours, get paid while they are attending and still don't have to do their job! While the rest at central has to get a signature to sign in and out like 8th graders! Our high school kids have more freedom than us folks working at central office.
Things are so bad her pets are turning on her, you know the saying about rats and a sinking ship. This ship is taking on water fast, Margie and Margo (the m&m girls) better look for a life raft.
Everyone at the schools are being told by principals to spend any money that has been raised or saved because Dr. Miles is going to freeze and empty the accounts. I'm talking about money for field trips, music, art, and p.e.
Home invasions are a possibility. FEMA had money when they came to Somerset County. And was broke when they left. I wonder what happened. I've heard the term "Border Fence" mention in wicomico county. Makes one wonder what's going on! I noticed a lot of police and deputies on the southern end of Wico Co. I looked for defensive trenching being dug but don't see any yet. So we got a little more time. With the ground being frozen it's going to be hard digging. Somerset County has the man power, having ECI to do their digging. Most of Wicomico County is on some kind of State/Federal disability so they can't be used.
I can tell you the CHS PAC money is safe, we pulled that away from CHS 3 years ago.

Well I wonder what happens in March, when teacher negotiated salary steps are to be honored? If those bonuses for admin were contract negotiated (that still in question to many), guess March will be the tell tale sign!!
Will the admin be required to pay back their Christmas bonus?
If the contract is not met, I think a good ole strike during MSA assessments would get the state's attention!!! Miles said it takes three unsuccessful years to fire a teacher or any tenured staff!!
