I will start by saying that Chris Bitters and Jimmy Sweet have been nothing short of awesome in the way in which they have conducted themselves professionally, handled the situation, and the respect they have shown my daughter. She was so excited to have won the jersey and was equally excited to go down to the field after the game to get it signed and what she was hoping for, a picture with the player. I personally do not care who he wanted the jersey for...whether it be for himself, his girlfriend, his father, or even if he wanted to hand deliver it to the Pope, he had no business as an adult and so called "professional", to even attempt to bargain with a 16 year old. What infuriates me more, is the language he used towards my daughter. He dropped the F bomb twice! He may use that language in his everyday life and it may be normal for him, but we do not use it in this household! My daughter simply attended the game, spent $140.00 for this particular players jersey, wanted it signed, ended up in tears, and the rest is history. As far as the comment made by “Anonymous 11:46”, we are not aware of any meeting being requested by Esposito himself. The general manager called my husband over the weekend and said as routine, he could offer us to meet with Minor and Esposito where he would apologize to my daughter. My daughter decided she did not want any contact with Esposito. I honored her wishes and certainly do not blame her. This has been quite upsetting for her. As far as the comment made by “Anonymous 2:46” it very hard to misconstrue hearing the “F” word thrown in your face, twice! In regards to the comment made by “Anonymous 5:22”, her season tickets most def were NOT “complimentary”…what an idiotic thing to say. I saved money out of each of my pay checks last year so she could be given these tickets for Christmas! All of this would have been overwith had the boy been benched the next game. I feel it was a slap in my daughters face that he was allowed to be on the field as if nothing had occurred. So what if he got chewed out by the manager...big deal. As far as we are aware, no actual discipline has been administered. Lastly, I will agree that this one incident and this one BOY should not reflect the image of the whole team. Casey has met some incredible, respectful, young Christian men on the team that she continues to be friends with, even when they move up. This was very unfortunate, very maddening, and let's just pray next years birthday goes alot better!

Another Pedestrian Struck In OC
On August 20, 2012, at approximately 12:50 a.m. Ocean City Police and Paramedics responded to the area 19th Street and Philadelphia Avenue, in reference to a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.
The investigation revealed that a group of people were attempting to cross Philadelphia Avenue in the area of 19th Street from east to west when one of the pedestrians, who was not in the area of a marked crosswalk, was struck by a vehicle. The pedestrian, who was identified as a 21-year-old Irish citizen, was struck in lane number two of the southbound side of Coastal Highway by a taxi-cab who had the right of way. The investigation further revealed the taxi attempted to break, however did not have time and stuck the subject while breaking.
The pedestrian had several injuries and was treated at the scene by Ocean City Paramedics and transported by the Maryland State Police Trooper 4 to Peninsula Regional Medical Center. The pedestrian, whose name is not being released, was in stable condition at the time of this release and currently no charges are pending against the driver.
The collision, which occurred 150 feet from a signal controlled crosswalk intersection, is the 32nd pedestrian collision investigated by the OCPD this year. In 14 of those incidents, alcohol was a factor on the part of the pedestrian and in two cases alcohol was a factor on the part of the vehicle operator.
Ocean City Police remind citizens to always use marked crosswalks and never cross roadways in between intersections. In addition, pedestrians and motorists should use caution, especially at night. If you have consumed alcoholic beverages remember to always use marked crosswalks and if available a marked crosswalk with a traffic signal. Finally, pedestrians should not be texting or talking on a cell phone when crossing busy roadways.

Does Anyone Know What Marjorie Miles Is Doing??
Many in Somerset County are confused about what is going to happen in the upcoming School year because it seems Marjorie Miles has been slow getting the schedules up. Children, parents and staff are still trying to figure out what is actually going to happen with 2 weeks till opening day
Local Resident Apathy Continues
It should come as no surprise at this point, but the lack of interest in our local Government is astounding. Look back at Salisbury's embarrassing 13% voter turnout for the last election. Fast Forward to the City redistricting hearings that nobody even bothered to attend. Then look at the lack of interest in the County redistricting meeting held this week. It clearly shows the residents in this area have no interest in their local Government.
The sad part about apathy is that it allows the handful who are proactive to dictate policy. I understood the City redistricting being ignored, because the citizens know at this point the Council majority are going to do what they want anyway. The County politicians I think really want input on the best way to go about making changes. I hope someday the citizens will find a reason to get more interested in their local Government
