PIERRE-LUC GAGNON WINS SKATE VERT TITLE AT THE PANTECH BEACH CHAMPIONSHIPS
Ocean
City, Md. – Aug. 18, 2012 – The energy was electric at the vert
ramp on the beach in Ocean City this afternoon for the Dew Tour’s Skate Vert
Final. After battling through two rounds of competition, Pierre-Luc Gagnon took
home the top spot with a solid last round run. His technical run used the curved
coping feature of the ramp and incorporated several flip tricks, including a
kickflip fakie, a switch heelflip 360 and a kickflip body varial 540. Baltimore
native Bucky Lasek and Sandro Dias rounded out the podium, in second and third
respectively.
“It feels
great to win again at the Dew Tour,” said PLG. “I had a hard time in practice,
but kept my cool and threw it down when it mattered. I’ve done this a bunch of
times, so I knew what I had to do.” He also appreciated the strong support of
the beach spectators. “The fans are so into it here in Ocean City,” he said.
“It feels great to perform in front of a crowd like this.”
The Pantech
Beach Championships continues tomorrow with final competitions in BMX Park and
Skate Bowl airing live on NBC, as well as the newly added BMX and Skate Mega
2.0.

JAMIE BESTWICK WINS BMX VERT FINAL AT PANTECH BEACH CHAMPIONSHIPS
Ocean City, Md. – Aug. 17, 2012 –
Jamie
Bestwick won his eigth consecutive overall BMX Vert title at the Dew Tour
tonight. As the sun set over the ocean at the Pantech Beach Championships,
Bestwick came from last place to edge out Vince Byron in the second round of the
BMX Vert Finals with a solid last run that included a turndown flair, tailwhip
flair and downwhip turndown. Bestwick
also landed a seatgrab knack-knack, invert 540 and oppositeflair. The competitor field was made up of the top
six finishers from yesterday’s first round of the final contest. After finishing first in Round 1, Bestwick’s
fellow Brit Simon Tabron rounded out the podium in third place.
“I’m
happy to win,” said Bestwick. “I’m
probably the most experienced on the ramp, and most experienced at the Dew Tour
and I know how to put a run together. I was under pressure from the riders
because Vince and Simon were just running away with it. But I just kind of
worked my way around the ramp, hitting tricks and it worked
out.”
The
Pantech Beach Championships continues tomorrow with Skate Vert Finals, BMX Mega
2.0 Finals and six concerts, headlined by Wolfgang Gartner.
