As a parent of a child at Woodson, I have had the opportunity to have to meet
with the principal and vice principals over my own child being bullied, and let
me say that even though I met with them personally, sent notes with my child,
made phone calls, the problem still continues. They supposedly pulled the other
student out of class to ask if this child in fact was saying the mean things and
putting their hands on my child and of course the childs answer was no like they
were really going to admit to it. So that was pretty much the end of it after
them telling the child that if they did do it, to not do it again and that was
it! this child is a known bully at the school as well, messing with lots of
other kids verbally and physically and yet nothing was done, not even the lunch
detention or missed recess. I have been through so much with the school the past
2 years over bullying and not providing things that my child needed, that I am
seriously considering home schooling next year.
As for Jenna's son's attack, no
child should ever have to go through something as horrible as he did. As for the
bus driver not pulling over, that was so wrong. I have witnessed him pulling
over to yell at the kids on his bus to be quiet and settle down because my kids
used to ride his bus for several years and there were times where they got home
late because he had stopped to correct the students, so him not pulling over to
stop the attack which i'm sure he was aware of due to the other students yelling
was not right. as for jenna not being able to see the tape of the attack i'm on
the line about it, i know she wanted to see it, but they denied it so she
wouldn't get so upset watching it that she may have took matters into her own
hands and then the responsibility would have come back on the school for
allowing her to view the tape, but i know she wanted to see what her child had
to go through. as for the sorry excuse for administration out to the school, i
hope this is a lesson to them now, to know that parents and community members
are no longer going to stand by and watch them do nothing when it comes to the
problems out to woodson. school is supposed to be a safe place for kids to go
during the day. theyre supposed to feel safe and know that if someone hurts them
then those people will be punished for their actions. what kind of example are
they setting out there for the kids that bullying and abusing each other is ok?!
these kids will grow up and kill someone if the behavior isnt stopped. i know it
starts at home, but some parents aren't capable or willing to stop it so it
falls to the school. we entrust our children to the administrators and teachers
at all of the schools 180 days a year and its their job to not only teach and
guide the kids but to protect them. when the sweep the problems under the rug
theyre not protecting our kids at all. what would have happened if something
severe would have happened to caleb because of the attack? like brain damage or
god forbid death? jenna is doing the right thing and she did file charges on the
kid, only to be asked by the police why was she filing charges? the whole
situation is a mess, but jenna standing up for her child is showing him that
people can't hurt you without there being consequences. i commend her for doing
this as some people wouldnt have took it this far, but something has to be done
to help protect the kids from not only the bullies but the administrators who
aren't willing to stand up for them and protect them. they all need to resign or
be fired for failing this child and countless others that we dont know about. i
will stand by jenna 100% as a close personal friend and as a parent to try to
stop this from happening again.
