County Council Change Of Heart ?
It looks like the County Council has had a change of heart on the new Bennett Middle School following an immense public backlash at denying the letter in support needed to fund the project. I have stayed quiet on the issue but I'm sorry this is my website and my opinion will be heard like it or not. I'm sorry if not everyone will like it especially my conservative friends but they should have approved it to begin with.
Bennett Middle is not an example we should be setting to our children that this is all we think their education is worth. How do you put a price tag on example? How much is it worth for one kid to have more pride in their education because of their surroundings? I was pissed beyond belief regarding the lack of handicapped facilities at that School, and for the County Council members who voted against it the first time and I'm referring to Bob Culver, Joe Holloway and Gail Barktovich because the rumors are Stevie Prettyman has changed her mind, you disgust me. I would like for you three to be a disabled child who can't be with his friends from his neighborhood because we couldn't be bothered to provide a toilet for you. How much is that worth?? it's discriminatory and disgusting.
I agree we don't need a Taj Mahal of Middle Schools but that could have been worked with after we had agreed on the letter for funding. To just dismiss it was a slap in the face. It is 2012 for goodness sake and air condition in every classroom should not be a damn issue now. If indeed Stevie has had a change of heart after seeing some more information I will have gained respect for her. Remember this is my opinion which I am entitled to so don't come over here trying to change my mind, because it's not gonna happen.
Do We Really Want The City and County Attorney From The Same Law Firm?
If the Council majority insist on pushing Mark Tilghman in as City Solicitor which would clearly be a conflict of interest there is even more to consider. Mark Tilghman is law partners with Ed Baker who is the County Attorney. That would mean there would be no other oversight on what happens in the City or County Law issues other than what Baker and Tilghman report to us. They are out of their minds if they think that isn't unreasonable.
Why Does The Council Majority Want To Get Rid Of Paul Wilber?
You want the reality of why the Council Majority want to get rid of Paul Wilber? Well if you haven't figured it out it's because they don't like what Paul Wilber is telling them it is that simple. They don't want to hear that laws can't be rewritten to suit their needs on rental inspections. Paul Wilber has always been honest with the Council on what could hold up in court, but Terry, Debbie and Tim don't like what they are hearing so they need to try to put a friend in the Solicitor job to tell them all they want to hear. They want to do what they please to renters and landlords and that is the only way they can do it.
Worcester County State's Attorney's In Turmoil
Last weeks humiliating defeat in court in the Honiss Cane Jr case has caused quite the turmoil inside the Worcester County State's attorney. Immediately following the defeat Beau fired the Prosecutor Julie Guyer who had been assigned the case. This was a quick way to take the blame off the Office as the first year of Beau Oglesby's time as State's Attorney has seen massive turnover and troubles with high profile issues with cases like this one and Skylor Harmon.
The people in Worcester County are outraged at this and have lost faith in the ability to get justice if things do not change in the near future.
