Greg Bassett Lays The Smackdown On The Local Councils

If you haven't you need to read Greg Bassett Smackdown on our local councils here

Council Majority Wants Another Search

In another waste of time the Council majority instead of taking Jim Ireton's suggestion of Rick Hoppes as the new permanent Chief want to do another search. Tell you three what why don't we search for your brains instead because its obvious you are missing them.

Renters In Salisbury Are Second Hand Citizens

I bet if you are a renter that headline pissed you off, well guess what your Council representatives feel that way.  Let us look at Tim Spies comments regarding people who rent in just the past couple of weeks.

When the topic of Neighborhood Services and Code Compliance checks on derelict rental properties was being discussed and the issue of whether he should be involved in those talks with a case pending trial, Tim stated he was a home owner so the rules on derelict properties wouldn't include him. They want NSCC to increase the assaults on the landlords but keep home owners out of the mix, it doesn't matter if the homeowners house looks like crap they own it.

Then when Tim filed his childlike Ethics complaint against Shanie Shields claiming she gets reduced rent for votes he added another little jewel in his hatred of renters. Shanie shouldn't be allowed to vote on anything that is landlord/tenant related. Do you not see the absolute unbelievable slap in renters face this is. Tim Spies is saying renters should not bother to run for Council because they would be unable to vote on anything related to rentals which make up 60% of Salisbury residents. Home Owners only , us renters get to use the bathroom around the back right Tim?

Somerset County Needs To Do More For Cat Rescue

I have written about this before but today's article in the Daily Times has brought this issue back to the front page. The article is talking about the rescue of the 30 cats after their owner could no longer care for them, which if you haven't read click here. I am a big supporter of the Cat Sanctuary group in Crisfield which is group who also give of themselves to take care of all these beautiful animals and yet like the Human Society they have no building to house these animals.

There are countless abandoned buildings in Somerset and Crisfield itself and yet none of the "community" leaders are stepping up vocally and making something happen for these groups. I am personally going to take this project on as I will be making trips down that way and documenting every single abandoned building in the Crisfield area and inquiring to the owner why they don't let the Cat Sanctuary group use the building instead of let it sitting to rot. Someone has got to take action and get this moving for these beautiful cats that these groups are helping.

Again I will ask my Crisfield readers if you see an empty building you think could be used leave me a comment and I will do the research on the owner.
