Is it any wonder we have criminals on the streets that should be in jail when judges like Long let criminals walk because they can't use common sense? This latest episode in the Times on the Meko Gianni Palmiro case where Long feels like there wasn't probable cause to arrest him even though there was an all points bulletin on the car that police chased and the defendant bailed out of in the snow and Police found him 168 feet from the car and matching the description of the suspect and the clothing. On top of that he refused the police orders to show them his hands and get on his knees.
I mean what does the man need? it is stupid ass decisions like this in my opinion that keep criminals on the streets that end up with someone getting killed because of. It is a travesty to the Police Departments and the State's Attorney's Office when they put hard work into bringing criminals to justice and get this in return. Luckily for the people of both Wicomico and Somerset the Somerset County State's Attorney's office had the police recharge him with failure to obey a police officer and trespassing which will keep him in jail until Wicomico County gets to try him for violation of probation.

After all he is a democrat, maybe he is just trying to make our republican prosecutor "look bad". I think that all democrats are following the lead of Obama and the laws means nothing to them.
Seriously, Danny Long is about as good of a judge as cops and prosecutors can hope for. If he thinks there isn't enough there, there isn't enough there.

Before passing judgement on Danny Long,I'd first have to know the relationship between he and Bobby Jones.If they were best buds I would be seriously concerned.
Long is God in Somerset County. I do not agree with this.
I don't like him. Someone that puts child abusers away for less than a year is crap in my book. Child abuse is worse than murder in my opinion and dude deserved life not less than a year for the way this lil boy was beat black n blue

Another one who skated due to the liberal system prevalent in the US today. It's only a matter of time before he commits another crime. The only question will be is whether or not the victim survives. Hopefully, the victim will be armed and take care of business so that the public will never have to worry about scum like this again. The police continually put their lives on the line and do their jobs correctly, only to have some b. s. plea deal occur or some liberal judge let the defendant off with a slap on the wrist. I don't forsee it getting any better, only worse.
Jones and Long are best friends. grew up together

This is not the first bad decision for Long. He was involved in the James Henderson fiasco and we all know how that turned out.
There is a Long line of bad decisions and relationships, the old warden; bobby jones; hickman; Lord knows what else!

This explains why Kristy Hickman wasn't charged in the file gate case, no probable cause even when she was the only person with access and capable of deleting the files and had the motive.

What is the judge supposed to do rely on "common sense" and ignore the Constitution?
Common sense, a "6th sense," intuition, and public opinion have NO place in the judicial system, plain and simple.

You can delete your own files but not forms on county computers. Long protected Hickman just like he has protected many others in my opinion.

Why would I need to be a county employee? It was in the Daily Times at the time. It was officially reported that forms were in fact deleted from the States Attorneys office computers.
as a Somerset County resident I am much happier with the professional manner in which Dan Powell has represented the County since Hickman was a disgrace
Did the Attorney Board ever do anything to Hickman? I heard she took the whole month of June off, must be a nice job in Cambridge or she is in with the boss!
I voted for Dan and am glad to see him fighting to keep the criminals behind bars, thanks Dan
I doubt that anyone ever notified the attorney review board about Hickman. Again, that gets back to the judge, he should have done something about the situation but chose to ignore it.
