How Close To Bankrupt Is The Somerset County Board Of Education?

With the School year getting closer teachers are starting to talk and the biggest topic currently is how close to being bankrupt is the Board Of Ed?. Many teachers are giving less than a year before the payroll checks bounce like a rubber ball because of Marjorie Miles creating job positions without the money in the budget.

The board should be held accountable just as well as Miles and #2! Did you see how many zeros were in the budget for job postions that are currently staff.

I'd say Miles is morally bankrupt, too.

The board needs a lession on how to read a budget!

The schools would have more money if they lowered the teachers pay.

She has the administration stack on top of each other in Central offic sharing small cubicles. She has hired double amount of staff need to run any Board of Ed. HR Guy fighting for his life with cancer, and she demotes him after 40 years of service!

Blame the ones that hired her, what were they thinking?

Who was the ones that actually hired Miles? The Board? A committee? or the County Commissioners?

Sure, lower the teacher pay that fixes everything. By the way when you lower their pay you also need to lower their accountability, extra duties they do as well as items bought with their own money for the classrooms (upwards of $600 at the beginning of the year). It seems like it is easy for people to bash teachers for their summer vacations and easy jobs. Maybe if you were a volunteer in a school and see just what a teacher does during a day you may have other ideas.

Staff beware!!! She is spending YOUR money too. You need to ask your precious board and Dr. Miles exactly where your money is that was overpaid to your health insurance. Rumor is and this rumor is coming straight from the board office itself. There was approximately 3,000,000 dollars overpaid and that this money is to be returned to those with health coverage through the board either by offering them free insurance for several months OR a lump sum payback and guess what???? It's NOT there!! She has allocated it elsewhere so she can spend it. Call her, ask her where YOUR money is!!!

@3:57 - I just got my check.

Sure you did 5:18, there was no payroll done this week and no large mailing bulk, soooooooooo you received a check and the other 500+ employees didn't??? You must be a glorified asskisser at the board...

@7:32 - Wrong on so many counts. I got the check, but didn't know what it was for. I asked around and was told by someone ELSE who go it. Get your facts before disparaging someone.

What has she done to Leo Lawson?

Anonymous said...

She has demoted Mr. Leo to Public Relations and give his job to Beth Whitelock who was his assistant, she has received 3 promotions in the last year whereas teachers and other faculty have not gotten a raise in almost 3 years. She keeps finding money for her central office staff, but screw the people that actually work with our children!!!

10:06 you are still lying! I happen to be at that board and know for a fact there was no checks mailed out this past week, stop trying to cover for that joke you call a superintendant!

Seeing that she likes to give her peeps nice paychecks, that is why I am only buying my child what HE needs for school. No donations for whips, paper towels, ear buds, dry erase markes, sanitizer etc. Let the ass kissers pay for it. I am tired of supplying for everyone else. I have done it since my child started school and I am done!!

@11:33 - then you're not doing a very good job at the board, considering that I know of TWO checks going out this week (mine and one of my co-workers). I think that you have such an ax to grind that you aren't even willing to acknowledge reality.

Creating jobs unfairly! Do you think this practice is one that would be approved by the EEOC,Labor Board and let's not forget The Attorney General?

10:06 so you got a check, and there was no memo or letter attached? So now the board CFO is sending checks to employees without a letter or memo attach to explain why the hell the are receiving a check! Really do we look like we fell off the turnip truck Yesterday?

For the person that received a check: are you sure it was not part of your regular paycheck or summer pay bc the last pay period alot of mistakes were made and extra checks had to be sent.

Anonymous said...

@7:16 - That could be. I don't know. All I know is that I received the check.

@10:00 - Apparently, with 7:16's post, yes, you DID just fall off the turnip truck.

You mean to tell me, you get a friggin check and have no idea what it's for, but yet you argue with someone on here that told you it was NOT your insurance refund and you still have no idea what it's for? Can you seriously be that stupid that you don't know if it's a summer savings check or a mistake made on your last pay period? "HERE"S YOUR SIGN" Another dumbass that SCPS hired!

I think I have to agree here with poster 6:12. How can you NOT know what you received a check for? Obviously it wasn't an refund on your insurance, but rather your own paycheck that was either messed up by that high-heel clicking, cellphone glued to her ear worthless Rounds woman that screwed up once again OR your summer savings. Obviously you don't need the money if you didn't recognize a mistake in your paycheck or forgot you receive summer savings. And you teach our children? Hopefully NOT math...sounds like a big case of DUH on your part...

@6:12 - No, I'm arguing with the person who called me a liar because I said that I got a check and they said that there were NO checks that went out. That's all.

Honestly, I could care less who the superintendent is, I'm so far down the totem pole, all I can do is what I am told. But if we're going to bitch about something, let's at least do so honestly.

You know the only person from the board that reads this post, who can actually read out of the board is Wells! You know the others can't read, because they should of caught the shortfall in the budget. Miles got her hand in the Insurance Jar! It's going to be sad when they have to lay off all the new postions she created because lack of funds!

She is now currently hiring back some of those she laid off in June. Seems she thinks the Marion school is short staffed, so let's add a few more adults there. School housed no more than 20 students at one time yet they had 6 certified teachers, 2 aides and a dean. Nine adults to 20 students..hmmmmm now let's add more???

Poor special ed kids that need one on ones. Little did they know all they got to do is beat the living crap of another student or teacher, land their butts in The Spa! One on one!

Some inquiries have been made about the Blue Cross refund and no one at the board office seems to know anything about it. Where did this come from?

Ask the teachers union, they know about it and so does the board. Guess they are trying to hide that the super spent that too!
