Stephen Decatur High School Bullying Issues Repost

It seems Stephen Decatur High School is going through some trying times lately with complaints being made on bullying at the School and the inappropriate manner in which the Administration and Coaches at the School condoned it by their actions. Specific examples are a few years back when Running Back Ben Tate left the School to go to Snow Hill High the coaches participated in and condoned making targets with his picture on them and burning his number. This has continued into the present and this unruly mob mentality has become the norm at the School. Certain groups are now forming to combat this bullying behavior to help the students out and I can only hope they succeed.

The major news outlets are giving this story some coverage now so worth a repost from last week.

funny how we love "democracy" until its a group like this. the wimps need to grow a pair. bullies are everywhere, if you cant deal with them now, you will not be able to survive the REAL world!

Is this published anywhere? Their Principal Lou Taylor was just promoted to Aasistant SUperintendant, and is in the running for the top job.

Ben Tate? Wasn't this like years ago-maybe a half dozen and they are still dwelling on it?
I agree with 3:43. Move on and quit dwelling.

3:43, I disagree with you philosophy. Students should be allowed to learn in an environment free from distracting bullies. Maybe it speaks to the parents of the bullies and the way they bring up their kids. Only care about themselves and screw the rest. That is not an example to set for our children. If there is a bully policy in place, the school should follow the policy period. It doesn't have anything to do with wimpy kids and you are an ass for suggesting they just get over it and grow a pair.

My question is: Why did Ben Tate leave SD for SH?

ben left because he was not voted team MVP in his junior year by his team mates when he set all kinds of rushing records go figure

Yes, the Ben Tate thing was a while back, but the problem is still there.

The administration of Decatur is known for covering up anything and everything. If the parents really knew what was going on in the building, they would be totally upset.

Example - the previous school resource officer left because he would not compromise his morals and cover up issues with students. And how many people know what happened to a teacher/coach who disappeared earlier this year for watching porn in his classroom while students were present?

The teachers and staff members are bullied by the administration, so why shouldn't the kids bully the other kids? It is a toxic environment, but the county Board of Education lets it happen, just like they allow Irene Korkick to be the Nazi Principal of Ocean City Elementary.

Everything is covered up by the school. There is a huge drug problem a Decatur. My kids have gone to this school and participated in sports for the last few years. Its disgusting what goes on.. I dont know about bullying Im more concerned about the drug problem and all the hush hush. Decatur and the whole Worcester County School Board is run by the good ol boys club!
