Salisbury To Orlando In The Future?
One very good bit of news I picked up on over the weekend was the story of allegiant air being interested in running some flights out of our airport with a stop in Orlando being one of the nonstop flights available from here. This is fantastic news and hope that this comes to fruition for our Airport
We Must Support Local Business
I was hoping to see people supporting local businesses on Saturday which is a buy local day for holiday shoppers. The problem is small businesses have to compete with WalMart and Target which is honestly impossible to do as they will never be able to get the discount on items because of the bulk purchased by these stores. Yes you will pay more for an item but sometimes a little extra money is worth keeping great local companies going. Keep in mind when heading out that yes you are saving yourself money but would be supporting your community by that little extra
Winter Wonderland In Review
It was a fantastic evening Saturday night at the City Park with perfect weather for the best Salisbury Holiday event. Mike Dunn does a great job every year putting this event together. It is so embarrassing that our Council Majority who decide what us lowly citizens want never bothered to show up for events like these. Laura Mitchell was the only Council member mingling with the citizens.
We need to support this great cause and help keep this great event going. Kim Hudson is amazing at what she has done to bring these lights back to life. This with the news of fireworks coming back this year is really helping bring Salisbury back to respectability.
We Need The Tax Differential
I hope that our County leaders understand that the City needs a break from paying for services from the County that we don't receive. The tax rate on property in the City would make anyone who would even remotely consider moving here to say um no thank you. We are talking double the tax here people for City residents. Live out in Nutters pay 1,500 a year tax, live in Doverdale pay over 3,000. It makes it impossible for the City to not be rentals.
I would ask our County Council to please make it happen. I understand it means lost revenue for the County but the residents are paying for service they are not receiving. Please work it out
