The Humane Society of Somerset County is here to help the animals of this county. We are doing everything we can to meet this goal, but we are currently overrun with kittens. We need help! If you have a spare room, please consider fostering kittens in your home. It would be for a very short time, only a matter of weeks. The 6 kittens we rescued today would most likely have died within a week, a couple may still not make it, and we rescued them with nowhere to place them simply out of necessity. And there are more out there, in the exact same location (we just couldn't take all of them this morning, there were so many), all over Crisfield, and all over Somerset County. Innocent little kittens suffering and dying from flea infestation and anemia, ear mite infestation, worms of all kinds, we even picked up one this morning that had ANTS all over it. We can't rescue any more kittens until we find foster homes for the healthy ones that we have that are now looking for forever homes. That's the deal...we rescue sick kittens, have them vetted, tested, medicated, dewormed, etc. and get them healthy, and that's when you come in. You will foster the healthy kittens that are ready for adoption for a few weeks until we can find them forever homes. If we don't find them homes, we will still take them back from you when you want or need us to.
Here are the rules:
1. Fostered kittens must be kept inside.
2. You provide food for the kittens while they are in your care, and we will pay any vet bills should they get sick or injured. Food bought for fostered kittens may be tax deductible.
3. Kittens must be made available (with advance notice, of course) for visits with potential adopters. It's that simple! Please consider doing this for the kitties, so we can move forward and help as many kittens as possible. Thank you!

I see that other area of Delmarva also have some feisty political arenas including the Dorchester County Council. It seems accusations are being thrown at Councilman Ricky Travers whose family owns the Center Market regarding the Town making purchases from there as it seemed he was benefiting from his Council position.
Ahh no place like the Eastern Shore for some nasty ol politics

The guy pictured above Steve Mixter was arrested and charged with assaulting his granddaughter on Fathers day according to reports. I am not claiming him innocent or guilty here but I feel there may be more to this story than meets the eye.
The Granddaughter wanted to go out after dark evidently and how do we know this is the first time she has tried to break the rules and get her way to go out? Again I'm not saying anyone deserves to be struck but wow this looks very bad if it is true, but imagine if its only a partial story. What if the girl had behavioral issues and had struck out before violently or otherwise and his attempts to control her turned into a fight between them? I know he is the adult and knows better but kids today have very bad attitudes and mouths and if this was the case and we are taking her word for how it all went down , it could be a real travesty if it isn't true.

We have quite the list of abandoned and unsightly properties around the City now and my question is of all the ones that you are aware of which ones would be at the top of your priority list. I would love to see the Thrift Travel bulldozed to the ground to start the list

The big topic of conversation in Ocean City these days is the idea of an Aerial Tram running from the inlet parking lot to around 27th street. It certainly would be interesting to see and it might help clear up some people walking on the boardwalk. Evidently from what I have read the people who are behind the idea were going to present it to the OC Council but cancelled to get more input and support from businesses along that area. I applaud them for this because if they want to make it work they are going to need all the support they can get.

I read the Daily Times story here regarding this guy Terrance Schoolfield shown above and him being charged with sexually assaulted female inmates at the Detention center. Each time I hear stories like this I wonder shouldn't we segregate the Male and Female prisons with same sex guards? I have a feeling the problem is there aren't enough female officers for the job, which is what causes the problem.
I know there is a bad apple in every bunch and most of the male corrections officers do their job men or women involved and do it well, I just know the temptation is there for someone so inclined to do things like he is accused of doing.
