I also have noticed and smelled the smoke in the air in Salisbury which is coming from a large brush fire in Worcester County I am hearing.

Beau Oglesby What Now? Rewrite

If you read Joel Todd's statement regarding the issues and comments regarding Beau Oglesby you saw a man of true character and class responding to a very difficult place he was in by having his supporters continue to go after the man who barely defeated him by less than 100 votes during the last election.

This is my view and opinion. While I congratulate Beau for getting this conviction this does not mean I am going to somehow stop calling him out for his stupidity.

I gave some thought to it and you know what I am going to at least cut Beau some slack for now. We can pick up our war at another time, but I do want him to focus on getting justice for people and to not get his panties in a twist over my blog as he always does. I will say thank you for helping get justice for Christine and that's about as Classy as I can be but don't get used to it.

How Do You Feel About Schools Cutting The Deputies From Budget?

If the cuts are finalized to remove the Sheriff Deputies from the Schools, what are your thoughts on the matter? I think its a bad move as these Officers do keep things calmer than they would be without.

Why Did The OC FOP Lose Their Non-Profit

I find it interesting that the OC FOP has lost their Non-Profit status. I wonder what is up with that.

Joel Todd Statement On Christine Sheddy Case

I had the pleasure of serving as State’s Attorney for Worcester County for 4 consecutive terms, and I served as Deputy State’s Attorney there for 9 years before that. Except for the time I was in college and law school, I am a life time resident of Worcester County. I know that I still have many supporters and friends in Worcester County and I appreciate your continued support. But for those who really know me and have followed my career, you know that I was never a prosecutor for the attention it brought me or for any personal recognition. On my wall, throughout my term, and even now as Assistant State’s Attorney in Wicomico County I have a sign which reads: “Justice, and only justice, you shall pursue.” This is taken from Deuteronomy 16 and is my professional mantra. The mission statement I drafted for my office was “For all residents, citizens, and guests of Worcester County, the Office of the State’s Attorney will professionally and ethically offer leadership in enforcing the rights of the public, protecting the innocent, and convicting the guilty.”

With that in mind, I would like for all my loyal supporters to keep in mind that it does not serve the ends of justice to continue to make insulting remarks about the incumbent state’s attorney. I served as long as the citizens of Worcester County wanted me. By and large the citizens and press were fair to me and gave me a chance to do my job. In the electronic/internet world in which we now live, it is much too easy to take verbal shots at another and hit the send button before one thinks about whether the remark is appropriate or not. I can assure you that while the office holder, in any position, may be able to shrug those remarks off, they are offensive and hurtful to the office holder’s family. This week, the Worcester County State’s Attorney successfully prosecuted Justin Hadel for 1st Degree Murder. Despite that, negative remarks have been posted about him.

Let me be clear, this post is neither a condemnation nor an endorsement of the current state’s attorney. Nevertheless, to those who supported me who may be making attacks against the incumbent because they’re hoping to make him vulnerable for my return at the next election, let me be perfectly clear: I have no intention of running for state’s attorney again. I prefer to look ahead, and not back. I am happy where I am and I wish the incumbent well. For the sake of all the residents and guests of Worcester County, all of us should want the state’s attorney to be successful. The personal attacks that have been made against him are ill-advised. Give him a chance to do his job. If you are not pleased with his job, then you may get actively involved in the next election and exercise your right to vote for the candidate of your choice.
