Local Economy to Hit the Skids?

How many have been paying close attention to gas and food prices lately? Some of the increase can be attributed to what is happening in Egypt. However, many businesses are getting ready for Owe'Malley's tax increases on alcohol and gas. Once he raises the gas tax in Maryland, everything transported by truck will go up. Remember, every business will be paying higher transportation costs, therefore, price increases will rise sharply in Maryland. I am sure many businesses in Delaware are laughing at how we are destroying our economy. Delaware gas stations should see a huge spike in business, both with gas, food and alcohol sales. Once again, this side of the bridge will get hit hard, especially Salisbury. Owe'Malley's wet dream is our worst nightmare.

Islamic Tolerance?

The population of Egypt is approximately 80.5 million, 90% of which is Muslim (mostly Sunni). A poll of Muslims only was taken in Spring 2010.

30% have a favorable view of Hezb'allah

49% have a positive view of Hamas

20% have a positive view of al Qaeda (72% have a negative view)

19% have a positive view of Osama bin Laden

48% say Islam plays a large role in their country's political life

85% consider Islamic influence over political life to be a positive thing for their country

61% see no struggle between those who want to modernize their country and Islamic fundamentalists

54% support making gender segregation in the workplace the law in their country

82% endorse the stoning of people who commit adultery

77% support whippings and cutting off of hands for crimes like theft and robbery

84% support the death penalty for those who leave the Muslim religion

59% say democracy is preferable to any other kind of government

20% support suicide bombing in defense of Islam

46% say suicide bombings are never justified

61% express concern about Islamic extremism in their country

Getting Real About Crime

I read with great amusement as usual that murder profiteer Joe Albero claimed all crime in Salisbury was due to Chief Webster, Barrie Tilghman and " bloggers" me of course, who wouldn't put the truth out about crime.

I know more about the crime issues in our town from having been part of many Crime Task Force Meetings and walks through all the troubled Neighborhoods in Salisbury. The difference is I have never used crime as a political tool to go after people aka Debbie Campbell ,Joe Albero and Terry Cohen.

Salisbury's crime issues like the rest of the nation have increased over the years, so the problems were just as bad when Coulbourne Dykes was Chief. The economy and unemployment have gotten worse in the past 15 years which studies show goes hand in hand with crime spikes. The Salisbury City Council did not get any of what Allan Webster asked for to help fight this rise.

The group mentioned are very good At sitting back and bitching and moaning about everything but never offer any solutions except throw renters out. It is time to stop the bs political games and actually create solutions that will help bring our City back to life.
