EPA Fights to Destroy Jobs

Democrats claim to be focusing "like a laser" on jobs and economic growth. What they fail to see is how their own vehicle of power - government - is actually standing in the way of said job creation and growth. Did you know that in 2010, federal agencies issued 43 major new rules, which increased regulatory burdens on businesses? The total cost of these rules, according to a recent Heritage Foundation analysis, was more than $26.5 billion. This is the highest single-year cost of regulations recorded on record since they started keeping track of such things in 1981.
Considering that our Obama bureaucrats already got the award for highest single-year cost of regulations .... they are now out to top themselves. At the helm is none other than the EPA. Right now there is a battle brewing between the EPA/Democrats and Congressional Republicans. You see, the EPA is determined to implement mandatory new regulations on green house gas emissions. The President, and most Democrats, support the EPA's efforts. Remember, it was our own president, Barack Obama, who said back in 2007, "If someone wants to build a coal power plant they can, but it will bankrupt them because they are going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being admitted." As Obama points out, these efforts would bankrupt an entire industry! Not quite what I had in mind when the Democrats said they were going to focus on creating jobs and economic growth.

Downtown Businesses Deserve A Break

With the renewed interest in bringing downtown back to life, there is one avenue that must be looked into. I have spoken to many downtown businesses and people looking to go downtown and all have told me that the rent is excessively high for new business to make a go of it, and for the others to do much more than break even.

If we want downtown to thrive again the people that are renting to these businesses need to give them a break on the rent. The mentality that I need to make as much money as I can has got to go, because an empty building without anyone in it makes you zero. I call on all downtown landlords to lower the rent a tad on the businesses and allow them to make it in this tough economy.

Scott Mitchell Rejected!

The people have spoken and Scott Mitchell has been rejected from Pocomoke. When I see the public speak out and stop an injustice like this it makes it all worth while.

Making Money

Just remember that the government does not make money, it collects money and spends it. If you want money in the hands of the producers, get government out of the way. Soon enough there will be more producers, with more money, and therefore the government will have more revenue. And the cycle continues ... but when Democrats says "job creation" they mean "jobs created by the government, funded by the tax payers."
