Jim Ireton has new Major Meltdown with Louise

It seems Jim Ireton had yet another major meltdown in the past few days with Council President Louise Smith . Louise by the memo I have obtained had set up a meeting with leaders of the Church street community to meet Chief Duncan after the new Chief had questions about what was going on in that neighborhood. Louise sets up meetings with leaders of that community to meet the new Chief and below is what ensues.

Louise's response

Tuesday afternoon, December 7th, I was shocked at two (2) communiqués that I received from Mayor Ireton. November 19th, I met with Police Chief Duncan at her request.  One concern discussed was the Church Street neighborhood, an area I had extensive knowledge of the quality of life of these residents and how it has declined over the years.  Back in the 40’s and 50’s many of the children of these middle class families were my friends and classmates.  These homes were built by their parents.  Over the years this once lovely  neighborhood has experienced extreme negative changes and has been riddled with crime activities.  The display of graffiti, prostitution, gang activities, an adult bookstore opening its doors, thefts and other offenses have punctuated this Church Street neighborhood.  In my term as Council President, I have worked to improve communication as well as collaborative problem solving through neighborhood walks, clean up efforts for 2½ years, championing a community center.  My focus has been on positive actions.  A neighborhood walk with our new Police Chief Duncan was scheduled for December 7th at 3:00 p.m.  This was an opportunity for residents to voice their concerns and meet the new Chief of Police.  Contacts were made in advance to residents, churches, and Christian Shelter.  Everyone was excited to meet and welcome the new Police Chief.  At 3:00 p.m. the time for the walk to begin, John Pick arrived with Chief Duncan providing me with Mayor Ireton’s directive that Chief Duncan would not be walking with me in the neighborhood.  This news was devastating; however, more disconcerting to the waiting families that I delivered this directive.  Returning home, I was shocked to read the mischaracterization of this joint effort.  To suggest this effort was for utilizing staff to deliver personal Christmas presents is grossly misleading of the intended purpose.  The day before this planned walk, December 6th, I purchased items for a Salvation Army stocking; while there I thought of buying five (5) packages of pencils and ten (10) packages of Christmas ornaments.  Since this walk was during the holiday season, I would give pencils to the children and ornaments to the families.  The spreading of a bit of Christmas cheer with these small items was coming solely from me. The real purpose of this effort was the introduction of Salisbury’s new Police Chief Duncan, improving collaboration and communication.  I am also, perplexed with Mayor Ireton’s directive to me, when another Council member has taken Chief Duncan around in neighborhoods, two other Council members have had several staff members in attendance for forums, another Council member held a social which included welcoming a new staff member; only to name a few.  Mayor Ireton, ceasing and desisting this joint effort only makes for a sad day in the improvement of community relations with a neighborhood that so desperately needs us as well as capitalizes the division and discord that has strangled City politics.

Liberals Trying to Screw Americans, yet again

Reps. Peter DeFazio (D-OR), Jim McDermott (D-WA) and Jay Inslee (D-WA) are crafting a letter to share with the House Democratic Caucus that would try to prevent the Speaker from bringing the tax bill to the floor.

They hope to get 60 signatures on their letter (which is still being drafted) and then force a vote in the caucus. DeFazio says he thinks that if a majority of House Democrats are against this compromise, they shouldn't bring it to the floor.

In other words, they are seeking a majority of the majority to move this and a senior House democratic source indicates they don't know if they have a majority of democrats, saying they haven't whipped this yet.

Luke Scott Comes Out as an Obama ‘Birther’

Scott, who plays outfield for the Baltimore Orioles, made the revelation yesterday to Yahoo! Sports reporter David Brown.

“He was not born here,” Scott said during a discussion that turned political. “That’s my belief. I was born here. If someone accuses me of not being born here, I can go — within 10 minutes — to my filing cabinet and I can pick up my real birth certificate and I can go, ‘See? Look! Here it is. Here it is.’ The man has dodged everything. He dodges questions, he doesn’t answer anything. And why? Because he’s hiding something.”

Larry Summers - Oh, You Don't Say?

For those who haven't seen Summers' key quote, here goes:
The first priority for addressing the budget deficit has to be getting the economy growing again at a rapid rate." The tax deal, he said, "offers the best prospect that was available for achieving the kind of escape velocity that we've been seeking for the past two years.

Curious, isn't it? Correct me if I'm wrong, Larry, but you say that a growing economy generates tax revenues for Washington to help reduce the deficit. Fast growth is very good, you say. Then you suggest that the best prospect for quicker revenue raising isn't to hike tax rates. Hmmm. That's got a familiar ring to it, say, the thinking of Ronald Reagan, Arthur Laffer, and the dreaded George W. Bush?

Obama calls Republicans 'hostage takers'

A leader doesn't whine about "millionaires and billionaires" receiving tax "cuts," when he knows that people making $200,000 aren't "rich." And no leader, as Obama did at his press conference, refers to the opposition as "hostage takers." Asked by NBC's Chuck Todd about "GOP obstruction," the president replied:

"We all know that the middle-class tax cuts were being held hostage to the high-end tax cuts. It's tempting to not negotiate with ‘hostage takers,' unless the hostage gets harmed. In this case the hostage was the American people."

Really? That's the best we can get from the President of the United States? Hostage-takers seize people against their will, threatening to kill them if their demands aren't met. The president's word-choice is absurd. Moreover, his "American people" - the one's being held hostage - excludes citizens who oppose his philosophy. If you believe that workers can spend their money better than a bureaucrat, you don't factor. Obama's America is a parochial America defined by his hero. Obama himself.

Chestnut Manor Apartments In Delmar Bans Christmas Lights?

What in the hell is wrong with the management people running that apartment complex that it won't allow residents to decorate for the holidays? Talk about a bunch of scrooges. I have to agree with the resident the Daily Times interviewed for their story about it that it really is keeping them from celebrating their religion.

Almost every other Apartment complex that I have seen allows the decorations so it makes zero sense for them to act like such children over decorations. I am sure I could drive up to Delmar and find other things with their property they should be worrying about right guys?
