Third Friday Another Fun Time

Davis Ruark and Chief Barbara Duncan

Remembering Fallen Officers

The Choir doing a great job
It was a cold night Downtown but a great evening for music and for remembering fallen Officers across the Country. It was a great turnout in front of The GOB as they also were remembering Dr. Douglas I. Smith a big fan and supporter of Third Friday.

These events are what we should be promoting about Salisbury to encourage people to want to live here and stay away from all the negativity about everything.

John Cannon, Rick Pollitt, Ernie Leatherbury, Davis Ruark and Chief Barbara Duncan were all in attendance. I also want to say Stephan Dicarlo's photos that were exhibited were just awesome and if you haven't seen his work I encourage you to check out smdi photography.

Kara Adams Always In Our Hearts

I was thinking of Kara Adams today who sadly left us over a year ago and just wanted her family and friends to know she is not forgotten. When I see small children like Ashlynn Bruce, Brooke Mulford and Kara suffer through such terrible things it really makes you put things in perspective. The world can be a cruel place but it is beautiful angels like Kara, Ashlynn and Brooke who make us remember what life is all about. Miss you Kara

Derrien Douglas Convicted Of First Degree Murder

Derrien Brett Douglas was convicted of first-degree murder in connection with the killing of Brandon Jamal Jones, 24, who was found inside his home with two bullet wounds on Oct. 5, 2009. I am glad that this case has been brought to a conclusion as I was subpoenaed twice for this case by the Defense team but I suppose they were just doing their job.
Wicomico County Executive Richard M. Pollitt, Jr., will preside at a ribbon cutting next Tuesday which will mark the official beginning of a much-needed restoration of Nanticoke Harbor. The 10:00 A.M. ceremony will take place at the harbor’s marina where work is in progress to dredge the stem channel and boat basin and to restore and repair the facility’s failing jetties.

The total cost of the project is $1,600,000. All funding comes from a Maryland Department of Natural Resources Navigation Grant. The grant was secured on behalf of the citizens of Wicomico County by the Department of Recreation, Parks & Tourism. The Department will oversee the project.

Mr. Pollitt commented, “I salute Gary Mackes and his staff at the Department of Recreation, Parks & Tourism for their hard work in securing this grant and ensuring that Nanticoke Harbor, one of our county’s most popular and valuable assets, will remain as a highly attractive recreational and commercial destination for boaters. I also wish to salute Governor O’Malley and DNR Secretary Griffin for their enthusiastic support.”

Third Friday To Be A Great Time

Head out to Downtown tonight to see the lighting of the candles in remembrance of fallen police officers, hear music see art and really enjoy a great time downtown. I will of course be in attendance so head out tonight but dress warmly.
