Jim Ireton Continues To Wage War On SAPOA and The City

Jim Ireton's editorial in the Daily Times yesterday which can be read here was another example of his immaturity and arrogance as a boy Mayor who cannot make decisions as an adult. I want to touch on a few of the most outrageous parts.
". In attempting to work with City Council President Louise Smith and the Salisbury Area Property Owners Association, I have run into the same wall over and over -- unless I do what they want, no deal on moving Safe Streets legislation forward."
And Jim what is it you think you are doing when you are demanding Louise do what you say? you are doing the very thing you are accusing them of doing but It's okay because it's you right??

"What I want for Salisbury and what SAPOA wants for Salisbury are not the same. SAPOA and Smith protect the millions of dollars the rental industry makes on the backs of our most vulnerable residents, while not addressing the slum and blight that are the root causes of crime and unsafe neighborhoods."
No Jim what you want is to help your owner occupied buddies in the neighborhoods near where you live because you along with many others including Campbell and Cohen hate renters. Two pubic inputs on your Safe Street plan have been dismal failures with the public not in support of it either time but you think it is only Smith and SAPOA that are against it. If this plan was the greatest ever created in the history of Salisbury then why don't more people besides your friends speak up in support about it?? The answer because it targets the poor
"My belief is that the council majority, controlled by SAPOA, does not want to vote Safe Streets down with the spring election around the corner."
Maybe just Maybe Jim the Council Majority are protecting the citizens from your Gentrification plan which would target the poor and minorities in our area. We can play this game all day long but alas it is lost on your childish whims as a boy Mayor.

Thomas Leggs Death Penalty Case

With the emotional case of Thomas Leggs upcoming the question is what is the point of the death penalty in Maryland if Thomas Leggs doesn't receive it? I know the case always comes down to evidence and a jury but if a case that screams Death penalty ends up as a life in jail then why waste the time in Maryland. I know this is all speculative as the case isn't until next year but it does bring up a very interesting question.

The Fireboat...du du du soon will be making another run

The Fireboat has come back up for discussion and I believe it will finally be passed with all council being available for a vote. This is a controversial item that has been up for discussion for some time and it needs to be either moved forward or forgotten about as you will not please everyone with this item. It would be nice for us to have it if it will cost us little to keep it, so in my opinion we should go for it.

Something Weird Going On In Princess Anne

I have been catching up with emails of news tips from last week and the one that really caught my eye was this Princess Anne youth program investigation. What in the world is going on when they have 100,000 allocated to the program for this year when the year before it was just 13 thousand.

Money is flowing to that Targeted Outreach Program that is part of the youth center in huge numbers and I wonder what took so long for the people to figure out something was seriously wrong. They have a nine member board that is supposed to oversee the building and I would suppose the funds, so what in the world has happened. Latoshia Bailey the director of the Targeted Outreach Program is on a leave of absence and they are claiming it's a personal matter.

The State's Attorney's Office needs to get to the bottom of this quickly because while I appreciate the fact that it is under investigation, that is taxpayer money that is being used and the people in Somerset are having enough problems with the economy without this crazy stuff happening.

Back In The Bury Groove

Well it's time to get rolling again after a much needed vacation to cleanse myself of the nastiness of a grueling political season from all the State and Local races. I can say I have become much better educated on a larger scale from the process, but sadly much like our City elections politics on the Eastern Shore are a nasty business my friends.

I would like to say it was like this all over, but sadly I feel locally our political situation is much more nasty than the norm. I saw alot of good people lose their respective races, and the people in the various communities who decided they wanted the people they voted for I wish them luck. I can say I am glad it is all over with and we can move on to making things better for everyone in our community.

I will not relent on being all over the problems facing this City, from Jim Ireton's boneheaded leadership to the waste of time and money that Debbie Campbell and Terry Cohen cost the taxpayers in this City with their conspiracy theories. It is time for the BS to stop within the City and for us to move forward working toward a better future and this current situation is not helping.

I will also continue to cover news from the 3 local counties Somerset, Worcester and of course Wicomico so if you want to help and contribute email me. I want to again thank everyone for being patient last week and tuning in even when I wasn't around to make posts, but unlike other people I don't live for this website. I do love my site however and thanks to our new more positive direction I have regained my enthusiasm for blogging in general so I am afraid for the people that hate my guts I have to tell you I am not going anywhere.

This website is all original content which some days there is alot to talk about and others (which is not a bad thing) there is nothing. I can promise I will never copy and paste news from all the other media outlets like sbynews does, as that really is a pathetic way to run a website as anyone could sit and copy and paste onto a free blog all day from cnn, msnbc and wherever you come across filler when the local news is slow. Writing all original material and opinions is much harder work but is something I take pride in about our site.

I also will not be venturing into classifieds or obituaries which honestly do not belong on blogs. I want to again thank our advertisers and I will continue to pursue new ones. I will be covering as may Holiday events locally as possible so stay tuned everyone and again thanks to all my readers.

Good Luck Chief Duncan

Today is Chief Duncan's first official day as the Salisbury Police Chief and I wish her the best and look forward to seeing what she can do to help fight our record breaking crime we are suffering through. Good luck Chief Duncan
