Jim Ireton's editorial in the Daily Times yesterday which can be read here was another example of his immaturity and arrogance as a boy Mayor who cannot make decisions as an adult. I want to touch on a few of the most outrageous parts.
". In attempting to work with City Council President Louise Smith and the Salisbury Area Property Owners Association, I have run into the same wall over and over -- unless I do what they want, no deal on moving Safe Streets legislation forward."
And Jim what is it you think you are doing when you are demanding Louise do what you say? you are doing the very thing you are accusing them of doing but It's okay because it's you right??
"What I want for Salisbury and what SAPOA wants for Salisbury are not the same. SAPOA and Smith protect the millions of dollars the rental industry makes on the backs of our most vulnerable residents, while not addressing the slum and blight that are the root causes of crime and unsafe neighborhoods."
No Jim what you want is to help your owner occupied buddies in the neighborhoods near where you live because you along with many others including Campbell and Cohen hate renters. Two pubic inputs on your Safe Street plan have been dismal failures with the public not in support of it either time but you think it is only Smith and SAPOA that are against it. If this plan was the greatest ever created in the history of Salisbury then why don't more people besides your friends speak up in support about it?? The answer because it targets the poor
"My belief is that the council majority, controlled by SAPOA, does not want to vote Safe Streets down with the spring election around the corner."
Maybe just Maybe Jim the Council Majority are protecting the citizens from your Gentrification plan which would target the poor and minorities in our area. We can play this game all day long but alas it is lost on your childish whims as a boy Mayor.
