Well we made it across the finish line and I can't tell you how happy I am about that. I was all over Worcester, Somerset and Wicomico and I apologize for the lack of news, but really other than snapping some pics with my phone there really wasn't alot I could do during the day except visit the polling places and snap some pictures.
I want to congratulate everyone who won and even though many people I had hoped would win and supported didn't, it is time for healing not bitterness. I am still proud to call Allan Webster my friend regardless of his winning or not, if you actually get to know Allan the man and not as the Police Chief you would know what a good man he is. I am very happy that Dan won and I wish Bobby and everyone in Somerset the best of luck.
I wasn't really saddened that Mike McDermott won because honestly that is a victory for the people in Pocomoke to finally be rid of him. I was surprised more Democrats didn't vote Conway and Williams but a large number went to McDermott or Pusey. The State of Maryland lost out on some great leadership from Pusey and Williams but I know the people in Berlin are happy their Mayor is staying put. The race between Joel Todd and Beau Oglesby is to close to call currently with Beau in the lead by 146 votes but with 1500 absentee ballots outstanding. I know whatever the outcome that Joel Todd will make sure the cases coming up for trial like Christine Sheddy's will be ready to go even if he has to hand it off to Beau because Joel Todd is a man of integrity and cares about crime victims.
I also want to congratulate Bob Culver and Matt Holloway for their At Large Victories and know they will both do a great job representing the people. It was certainly a close race between Pollitt and Ollinger but I think in the end of the day Pollitt will help us steer into calmer waters.
My Friend Bob Caldwell will be representing District 4 and I cannot express how wonderful it will be to see Bob sitting at Council Meetings as he is truly a great man in our area. Stevie Prettyman also won over Mike Calpino so I want to send congratulations to her as well. We will have 6 Republicans on the County Council for the next 4 years so that will be interesting.
The Republicans certainly came out swinging with Andy Harris easily beating Frank Kratovil on a local level, but losing big in the Senate and Governor race as both Mikulski and O'Malley won easily.
Most importantly it is all over and now we can get ready for the holidays and of course my favorite time of the year Christmas. Thank you again everyone for tuning in to both my PAC14 show and my site. I guess next up is the City Elections in 2011 but I am not even thinking that far ahead.
Onward and Upward as the saying goes lots of good stuff coming up.
