Somerset Races Where The Action Is
The two races above for District 38A and for Somerset County State's Attorney are where the action is. I haven't seen the kind of passion the supporters for both of these camps have for their choice in any race in Wicomico.
Thanking John Cannon and Bill McCain
I wanted to take the time and thank John Cannon and Bill McCain for their 4 years of service as our At Large Representatives in Wicomico County, and wish both well in their future endeavors
Sample Ballots Are In
I am sure many of you have received your sample ballots as well that have been arriving in mailboxes since Monday. I will be thoroughly examining each race over the weekend and giving my final endorsements for the people that I would support. Also don't forget early voting starts tomorrow.
Jim Ireton Clown Prince Of Salisbury
Well Jim Ireton went and did it. 80+ officers who signed a letter letting him know they supported Ivan for Permanent Chief was balled up and tossed in the trash.
I support Chief Duncan and believe she will do a great job, but it cannot be overlooked the way Jim Ireton treated his employees during this entire selection process. He made it clear and you can find the quote everywhere you look that when he named Ivan Interim Chief "he could have the job as long as he wanted" that statement turned out to be a total lie. Jim Ireton never had any consideration of making Ivan Barkley the new Chief.
This treatment of the personnel that have been doing the job he asked of them when he named them interim heads of the two departments Fire and Police is just plain disgusting. Hoppes and Barkley deserve to be recognized for the hard work they put into doing a job in which they were never going to be taking serious for. I hope Chief Duncan and Chief Simpson get better treatment from the Clown Prince of Salisbury Jim Ireton

Ivan Barkley Shows True Class
Ivan Barkley showed true class and spirit yesterday with the announcement of Barbara Duncan being selected as the new Chief of Police. This is a man that could and probably should be bitter because he was never seriously considered for the job permanently, but when a decision was made he reached out and showed support for the new Chief.
Ivan Barkley is a true friend to the Salisbury Police Department and we are lucky he is staying on to help in any way he can for the community. I will however talk about Jim in another post
