Final Thoughts On Crisfield Forum

I wanted to give some final thoughts on the forum held last night at Crisfield High School. The one thing that I did want to note was what an amazing crowd showed up for this event. The people in Somerset County do take more time to learn about candidates than we do here in Wicomico as the turn out for our events has been abysmal.

The crowd was very respectful to all candidates which was refreshing to see. I was amazed at the number or Charles Otto billboards all over Somerset as he must be spending huge chucks of money for those, including the digital Billboard on the way to Salisbury. The people in Somerset are very nice and it was a real pleasure to be among so many people interested in our political process.

I also must say the location and the auditorium were the perfect setting for the event.

Seth Mitchell Spiraling Out Of Control

Seth Mitchell has honestly spiraled out of control as the election season is drawing to a close.

The people that are working for his campaign have gone so into lala land with their activities and antics they really should be embarrassed. The sign crap he is pulling with placing signs in front of Matt's is totally classless, and I must add Seth doesn't have an authority line on his large signs which he is supposed to. I guess The people making the signs forgot that part.

Seth you need to understand people did not vote for you because they wanted you as State's Attorney, they were voting against Davis Ruark continuing to be..face facts you are going to lose and I want to add lose badly and you are only further damaging your reputation which according to who you talk to isn't so great anyway.

The group of people lurking about taking pictures of Matt and his family are total garbage, the smart money would be for you to crawl back in your holes before the spotlight shines on you from many different directions. Seth you are running a dirty and disgusting campaign and maybe you should take notes on how to run a clean and professional campaign from someone with integrity like Matt Maciarello

Jim Mathias and Michael James I thought both did a good job asking for your vote but I have to say it really seemed like the pair were more alike than different. I was expecting something more Liberal from Mathias and he sounded like what I expected James to sound like, so in a way Mathias stole James thunder in that regard.

To be honest with the two sounding so much alike and Michael James not really  standing out from Mathias I have to give my vote to Jim because he does already have the experience in Annapolis and since I don't see radical ideas from either that experience should be the difference. I will add they are both extremely nice each time I have talked to them, so both are great examples of quality people running for office.

I will add as well that many of us are annoyed with the mailboxes full of Jim Mathias ads we have all been receiving lately, so I would recommend to his camp that you should chill out on those or you are going to turn more voters off than win over with the tactic.

Somerset County State's Attorney

The other hotly contested race in Somerset is of course The State's Attorney.

Dan Powell and Kristy Hickman both made their pitch to be elected to the position and here are my thoughts on the matter. Dan Powell hands down has the leadership experience over Kristy with his Military background and his job as Somerset County Administrator with both having experience obviously in Prosecuting cases.

There is no doubt that Dan Powell is the better person for the job. I heard nothing from Kristy in the way of things she wants to do differently if re-elected other than just keep doing what I'm doing. I also have an issue with her current line I have heard lately in her interviews that "her door is always open". I can tell you from many various people in the Profession as well as in Law Enforcement that this is not the case. Kristy has very poor communication skills which is why a change is needed to have better relationships within the Law Enforcement and Legal professions.

Dan Powell is the change that Somerset County needs and if elected with Allan Webster as Somerset County Sheriff the County the future looks bright and safer for the citizens in that beautiful County.

Somerset County Sheriff

The Somerset County Sheriff race of course is one of, if not the most talked about races in Somerset County this election season.

If it wasn't obvious to the people in Somerset before that Allan Webster is the only choice for the job, last nights Forum only clarified it.

I must mention that before the event began Bobby Jones came up to talk to me about the "misinformation" on my website. I was amused however that the only thing he could clarify for me was his salary which he informed me he made 60,000. That was it nothing about Donna Pusey, Troy Durham or any of the numerous other issues like why he had his son's girlfriend with him on an undercover drug deal at the apartment complex, his non attendance of a police academy or his not being qualified on a handgun in 10 years. He did however tell me he found my picture of him in the car getting ready to back over the old woman funny.

Allan Webster laid out clear plans to implement 24 hour protection for the citizens of Somerset along with helping get more minorities into the Local police by working with local churches and civic organizations. He also advocated for trying to reach young adults in the Schools with a cadet program that would give the teenagers a chance for a career in law enforcement.

Bobby Jones said the same thing over and over that he can only do so much, and that was it. He had zero ideas of making the department better, just that he has what he has and that's it, and that most everybody knew him. Honestly it was embarrassing that this was all he had to offer. Clarence Bell I am not sure what was up with him, he had a complete brain freeze he called it in the middle of talking and took a minute or so to even speak and when he did he said he was going to cut it short vote for him. I was wondering if he was ok honestly.

Allan Webster should be your next Somerset County Sheriff if the Citizens want to move forward from a 1970's police department.
