Joel Todd True Leadership For Worcester County

Testimonials of supporters

“We know firsthand how hard Joel worked for our family to receive justice, and we have the highest respect and admiration for him. From our perspective as the family of a horrific crime and being victims, Joel's character, experience and dedication to his job are unquestionable. We hope the citizens of Worcester County realize how lucky they are to have Joel as their state's attorney and we pray that he will be re-elected."

-Debbie Ford , family member of Sifrit murder victim Joshua Ford

"The fact that justice has been served in this action is due to the professionalism and the dedication of lead detective Scott Bernal and (state's attorney) Joel Todd.”

--Anita Flickinger, sister of Sifrit murder victim Genie Crutchley
"I have been a police officer in Worcester County for nearly 20 years. The violent crime rate in Worcester County has been falling under Joel’s leadership.  When most people hire an attorney for any reason, they want the best, most experienced attorney they can get.  In Worcester County prosecutions, that person is Joel Todd."

-Cpl. Scott Bernal
“Mr. Todd is the best man for the job. Please re-elect him. Not only does he do a great job, he cares about the victims of crime.”
--Lynn Dodenhoff , mother of murder victim Christine Sheddy
"I have known Joel personally and professionally for over 30 years.  Law enforcement seeks a States Attorney who possesses high ethical values and a tenacity to prosecute career criminals.  Joel  has achieved these goals and has defended the values that the citizens of Worcester County cherish.  He has my unqualified support as States Attorney for Worcester County."
--David Massey Chief of Police , Ocean Pines Police Department

Mike Lewis Endorses Matt Maciarello

Press Release
Sheriff Michael A. Lewis Endorsement
Matt Maciarello for
State’s Attorney
October 15, 2010
It is with great pleasure that I announce my full endorsement of Matt Maciarello in his candidacy for State’s Attorney for Wicomico County. I’ve come to know Matt well over the past several months, and I’m impressed with his dedication, his strong desire and his relentless determination to serve the citizens of Wicomico County.  As a twenty-six year veteran of law enforcement, and as Sheriff of Wicomico County, I believe Matt Maciarello possesses the necessary skills to lead the Office of State’s Attorney, to effectively manage his resources, including personnel, and to become a very good trial attorney.
I have no doubt that Matt will continue to forge very close working relationships with all of the law enforcement agencies within Wicomico County. In truth, he has already promoted cooperation between agencies in different areas, including community policing.  His honesty, his integrity and his hard work ethic are admirable traits worthy of recognition, and certainly making him a most desirable candidate.
Without a doubt, Matt Maciarello has my unequivocal support in his bid to become the next State’s Attorney for Wicomico County.
Michael A. Lewis
Sheriff
Wicomico County

Editor's note: I want to send my congratulations to Matt on this endorsement.

Third Friday Should be good

It is the last Third Friday Event Before the Election so I am sure the politicians will be out in force, so if you have not gotten to meet them come downtown tonight starting at 5. I of course as always will be in attendance enjoying the only thing Jim Ireton has done right since being elected.

Also don't forget to check out the firefest exhibit in the City Center.

Block party at the Princeton Avenue Service Center,

Salisbury Fire Department To Participate In
Princeton Avenue Block Party

The Salisbury Fire Department will be participating in a block party at the Princeton Avenue Service Center, Saturday, October 16th, from 10am-12pm.  The block party is being sponsored by Allen Memorial Baptist Church.  In conjunction with our recent Fire Prevention Week 2010 campaign, the Salisbury Fire Department will be handing out free smoke alarms and batteries to those in need, as long as supplies last.

Pastor Bruce Glisson, Pastor of Outreach at Allen Memorial Baptist Church, says, “I have assisted families who have been devastated by fires.  I have seen what a difference a smoke alarm can make.”

Approximately 65% of reported home fire deaths occur in homes with no smoke alarms at all or no functioning smoke alarms.  Having a working smoke alarm cuts the chances of dying in a fire in half.  The Salisbury Fire Department urges every  home to have at least one working smoke alarm.  Make sure your smoke alarm has working batteries by testing it at least once a month.

The Princeton Avenue Block Party is a free, family oriented event.  The Princeton Avenue Service Center is located at 117 Princeton Avenue, Salisbury.

Delmarvacade Tomorrow!!

Lights. Music. Marching. One of the most exciting and uplifting nights of the marching band season is coming up Saturday, Oct. 16, when Parkside High School and the Parkside Band Boosters present the 2010 Delmarvacade of Bands at Wicomico County Stadium.

High school marching bands from throughout the region will fill Wicomico County Stadium that night with the exciting sights and sounds of their field show as bands tune up for the impending championship events.

Between bands, parents, and spectators, the Delmarvacade is expected to draw thousands of people to the stadium. Bands will compete starting at 6:30 p.m., with each band performing the kind of field show people are accustomed to seeing at halftime of football games. Each performance will last seven to 12 minutes, and a new band will take the field about every 15 minutes.

The event is sponsored by Parkside High School and its Band Boosters. It will be adjudicated by professional judges of the National Judges Association. Bands will be judged on every aspect of their field show, including both musical and visual elements, individual and group elements, as well as the overall general effect of the show. Each band will receive a score based on a 100-point scale, and a trophy.

Bands will compete in four categories, depending on the number of instrumentalists in the band. Parkside High and Wicomico High School are in Group 2 although Parkside, as host, will perform in exhibition. James M. Bennett High is in Group 3. There will be an awards ceremony at the end of the night.

Marching bands often stay all evening, even after they have competed. "They support each other, even though they are rivals," says Gary Beauchamp, supervisor of fine and performing arts for Wicomico schools and the founder of the event in 1977. Students know they are competing not just against each other, but against their own previous performances, trying to make this one just a little bit better.

Admission to Delmarvacade of Bands is $5. A program detailing the participants, with a score sheet to keep track of how the bands are doing, is $5. The Parkside Band Boosters will donate $1 from each program sold to Women Supporting Women of Salisbury.

Don't Forget Marshall Auctions Event Tomorrow!!
