Murder In Pocomoke UPDATE!
This happened right in front of middle school. School was put on Lockdown
The 18/19 year old victim was stabbed to death in the same area where Mike McDermott Refused to participate in the Crime meetings
UPDATE: Mike McDermott needs to be held accountable for this, as it is incomprehensible that he would dismiss citizens concerns about crime running rampant. More on this tomorrow
Ireton, Campbell and Cohen Take 2
Since poor old Debbie, Terry and Jim miscalculated the negative comments that were received by the room full of people not in favor of the legislation, they are trying for round 2 at Station 16 in the hopes that this time they can get their supporters to put on a better show.
It is honestly pathetic to watch Debbie, Terry and Jim keep trying these foolish little games with the public telling them "read" the legislation before being opposed to it. The public has read it Jim and they don't want it which was obvious by the people that spoke at the last meeting. I am sure some serious phone banking has been going on in Camden "hey we really need you to show up we looked bad last time" is probably taped to their phones for every call they make.
This legislation is a complete piece of garbage and a waste of time and money and doesn't even touch the current crime issues with record murders and drive by shootings. Jim, Debbie and Terry will be going for the Oscar this time.
Kristy Hickman Cases Examined
The most recent example of misuse of prosecutorial discretion is the case of the Smith Island school boat captain (democrat supporter). Capt Tyler was charged with operating a school boat while under the influence by the coast guard and natural resources police. Keep in mind children were on this boat while capt Tyler was operating it under the influence of drugs and alcohol. How did Ms Hickman handle this case? She, as usual asked Davis Ruark to handle it but the disposition was STET docket for this very serious case. This wasn't the first DUI for Mr. Tyler either. Just another reason Ms. Hickman needs to be replaced in November.

Marty Pusey Takes On Illegal Immigration
The State of Maryland has a rapidly growing illegal alien population reaching an estimated 250,000. This creates a huge financial burden for Maryland taxpayers with the cost of services such as education, medical care, and incarceration amounting to an estimated 1.4 billion dollars annually according to the Federation for American Immigration Reform. At a time when Maryland is facing a major deficit, this is not the time for rewarding illegal behavior.
Even taking into consideration the fact that many of the illegal immigrants pay some taxes, there is still a significant lost of investment of the dollars they earn because much is sent back to their originating country. Remittance from Maryland just to Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $921 million in 2006 according to the Inter-American Development Bank.
In my opinion this is an easy call. We cannot continue to ignore the rule of law even if the Federal government has decided to do just that. Most of all, we should not reward bad behavior. If you want to send your child to a neighboring County in the public school system then you must pay for that choice. Yet people from outside our Country who break our laws are able to send their children to school for free which law-abiding citizens are not privy to enjoy.
The candidates elected to the General Assembly will be responsible for addressing the huge fiscal shortfall while trying to maintain essential services. I believe removing the incentives for breaking our laws is a good place to start.
Marty Pusey
Candidate, 38B House of Delegates

Wicomico County Council Changes Are Coming
With the end of John Cannon and Bill McCain terms we will be welcoming in two new members to the Wicomico County Council. If you go by the numbers from the primary Ed Taylor and Matt Holloway would be those two new members. That would be a tale of two different views and ages to be sure.
Ed Taylor the well seasoned Democratic veteran, and the very young and inexperienced Matt Holloway. Ed would speak for himself obviously as he has done in the past, Matt on the other hand with his youth and lack of political experience will probably just follow the lead of Stevie Prettyman, Gail Bartkovich and Joe Holloway. This would lead to a 4 vote bloc out of the gate which we don't need, we need independent minds in office.
I would like to see Dave Cowall and Ed Taylor win both of who could be more agreeable to switch views. I am very happy to see that Sheree Sample Hughes will most likely be back which will give the Council her impressive ability to listen to all. It will be interesting tune in Nov 3rd we will find out.

Bobby Jones Says Don't Blame Me
Last night at the FOP meeting in Princess Anne Bobby Jones again had nothing new to say except instead of I'm not going to change, it was blame the County Commissioners. Bobby is trying desperately to place the blame on someone else for his inept job running the Somerset County Sheriff's Office.
After 25 years Bobby you should know what economic problems are, and best utilize what you have and not pass the buck off on the MSP and throw your hands in the air. The people deserve 24/7 protection and with far too few MSP available to be in all the Rural Somerset areas you take the responsibility of protecting these people.
Kristy Hickman Lightning Rod Of Controversy
Wow if there is one person that I have talked about that brings in some strong opinions of it's this lady Kristy Hickman. Honestly the things I have heard are not favorable and I am not talking about any personal stuff so don't even bring that up, I am talking about personality wise.
Many local lawyers and people in the law enforcement community do not care for her at all because she seems to have a bad attitude toward her fellow prosecutors and police alike. With the number of respected people that have said these things Kristy needs to look in the mirror and figure out what she is doing to make people hate her so badly.
Jim Ireton Laughs At Idea Of More Cops
Talk about needing to be more mature, Jim Ireton completely scoffed at the idea of hiring 30 some officers when Davis Ruark made the mention of it in the news earlier this week. Jim still believes the money is better spent going after SAPOA and renters in the Camden neighborhood.
This is precisely the BS that Jim does that makes zero sense. He spent all that money on looking at 1936 rental laws which could have been spent on more police officers. This City is a laughing stock with him at the helm and other than Third Friday we have accomplished nothing. Fire Chief? nope, Police Chief?nope, crime ideas?nope
go after SAPOA?ding ding ding we have a winner there.
Jim really needs to use some common sense and think about this City he is supposed to love and stop making his decisions without more thought.

My Thoughts On CVS Pharmacy and Benedicts Property
The article in the Daily Times today which can be read here talks about the upcoming public hearing on OCT 7TH to tear down Benedicts and build a CVS pharmacy and I wanted to share my thoughts on the matter.
I am very saddened to think of Benedicts no longer being on the corner as it is really is a little piece of Salisbury history that seems to be coming to an end. I can remember there was a time Benedicts and Jean and Kens were about the only flower places in town, and anyone from Salisbury knows the best memory about Benedicts is the wonderful window displays.
I always looked forward to seeing the displays especially around the Holiday seasons and they really became part of Salisbury lore. I want the owners to be able to get all they can for the property and wish them well, my only concern is another pharmacy? Salisbury is full of Pharmacies both opened and closed. Super G pharmacy was right up the street and it didn't make it, and if you ride around town you see many abandoned former pharmacies.
Will CVS be able to change the trend? because I really don't want to see another abandoned ex pharmacy on the corner by the college.

The Bug Is Spreading
If you haven't been warned by friends or neighbors a bug of some kind is making it's way all over town. Many people have already come down with it and until it runs its course or we all get quarantined everyone is being exposed to it.
