Wayne Barrall Sends In Some More Pictures Of Truck Fire

September 28, 2010 - On 9-28-10 the Delmar Fire Department responded to a reported accident with injuries and vehicle on fire. 74 Command arrived first and found a pickup truck that had left the roadway and collided with a large tree head-on and was fully involved with fire. Engine 74-3 arrived and put one 1 ¾ hose line in service to extinguish the fire. Rescue 74 arrived and used its Hurst Tool to open the hood up to gain access to the engine compartment. Just prior to Engine 74-3 arrival by standers on scene reported a large explosion from the vehicle. After the fire was out firefighters found 2 B size home oxygen tanks inside the driver’s compartment of the vehicle, one of them exploded. One female driver was taken to PRMC in Salisbury Md for treatment.

Melson Rd was shut down for nearly an hour while Wicomico County Sheriff Department conducted an investigation into the cause of the accident.

Beau Oglesby Something Doesn't Add Up

I went back and started looking at all the press statements and Campaign disclosure information and came up with a huge WTH? Beau stated that on July 19th Jared Demarinis told him to go ahead and pay back his old debt with his current campaign money and yet below is an official letter from guess who? Jared Demarinis that I had posted back on the 23rd that says no you cannot do that it is illegal.

Now someone here is lying, either Jared Demarinis from the Division of Candidacy and Campaign Finance is lying or Beau is, there isn't any other answer. Clearly Jared has made it clear in the bottom letter dated in September that Beau could not do this and yet Beau is claiming in July he was like sure go ahead..something is not adding up here.

It also makes no sense why in the letter from the Board Of Elections the response from Jared is in reference to an August 30th letter from Beau's Attorney. If this is the case how could Beau have known in July it was ok to do it if his attorney was going to find out in August. The other part to this is his attorney states they are looking forward to getting their day in court to challenge these allegations by Mr Gulyas but yet have asked for a postponement until after the election.

If Beau doesn't owe the money, as he publicly maintains, why did they feel the need to contact the election board "to find out if we were in a position to pay more"?

Beau's attorney says that "I'm not aware of any violation..." of the law and yet the letter from DeMarinis clearly states that expenses must be used solely for the purpose of supporting a candidate in an upcoming election. He goes on to say that since this expense was for paying a debt from a previous election, the money must be repaid by the candidate to the campaign. That sounds like a violation to me Beau

Don't Forget This Weekend

Salisbury Maryland City Under Siege

What more can be said about the Violence that is occurring in and around Salisbury that I haven't already said. Crime is out of control and luckily nobody was killed in the 4 separate shootings last night although one guy got the Forrest Gump treatment by getting shot in the buttocks.

These drive by shootings are extremely dangerous as innocent bystanders many times get caught up in these wars. The City should be considered a new Grand Theft Auto game screw Liberty City they have nothing on Salisbury City. Record murders, drive by shootings but in Jim's mind SAPOA is the problem. There is not one mention of anything about tackling these problems from him.

Davis Ruark was correct in us needing 30+officers yesterday but as I stated where was he when Allan Webster was asking for the same thing? He said nothing at the time nor did Mike (facetime) Lewis when he made the we are going to "rock" the criminals world speech. Mike the criminals are not only rocking our world they own it now and where are you?? off teaching.

Debbie Campbell?Terry Cohen?Mark McIver? anyone on the Crime Task Force? who can we blame now that Allan Webster is gone? You people disgust me that you are now without a voice when you couldn't stop yapping about Crime last year. This City needs to support the Salisbury Police Department by finally doing the things that needed to be done and as Allan Webster must I remind you, stated years ago. We need Officers and we need leadership from someone.

Mike McDermott Skips Crime Meetings

I find it interesting that Mike McDermott has missed 4 crime meetings in Pocomoke and refuses to talk about the open air drug markets. The communities that are most in need of help are the poorer Black neighborhoods and still Mike McDermott doesn't care by not even bothering to show up. One meeting, forgiveable 4? shows you don't give a crap sorry but it's fact. Do not vote for Mike McDermott for State Delegate because he can't be bothered to take care of his own community.

Salisbury Does Need Lower Fees

I have to agree with Louise Smith last night that Salisbury must do something about stopping the fees that are killing any chance of getting new Businesses to move to Salisbury. When the economy was booming the fees were a great way to stimulate the economy but the current market is just not there to get these extra dollars from now.

Salisbury needs to lower the fees for everything Building related by at least 30-40% in my opinion to start any chance of growth in our area again. I know this will kill off some revenue but a loss short term for a long term gain is what must be done if we want change. Salisbury has alot to offer (and I'm not talking about the crime :) but I pointed out several examples of businesses that went elsewhere because of the insane fees we have in the City core.

This needs to happen soon if we expect any change in the economic climate in Salisbury because change won't happen overnight but it must begin somewhere and the reduction of these fees is the start.

The World According To Jim

Since Jim Ireton thinks that his Legislative Package is the answer to all the crime in Salisbury I can only imagine when he gets word of the shootings in and around Salisbury, he pictures Kris Adams and TJ Maloney riding around in a 72 Impala flashing gang signs and shooting at people.

This has to be the answer because otherwise he would see the folly in wasting time at this crucial period on a personal vendetta against the Landlords in our City. Throwing people out on the streets is Jim's answer to the Crime problem and seems to be the only answer he has. I am thankful that the Council is not even considering this moronic venture as it will only increase crime and unhappiness in the City.

Somerset County Sheriff's Office Full Time Pay For Part Time Job

I have received numerous comments in reference to the Somerset County Sheriff's Department receiving Full Time Pay and Benefits and only working a part time job.

Bobby Jones Makes 70,000 a year
George Nelson makes 60,000.00.
Renny Miles makes 60,000.00
Ronnie Howard makes 64,000.00

Bobby signed off on Capt Billy Joe's retirement at 70,000.00.
Bobby signed off on Chief Deputy Dan Harrison retirement at 60,000.00

This is alot of money to put out for an agency that is currently not offering the Citizens 24/7 Police Protection. It is unfair for the MSP to do their job while Bobby and friends make all this money sitting back doing nothing. This is exactly why Allan Webster is the correct man for the job as he brings the credentials to turn the Somerset County Sheriff's Office into a modern 24/7 agency.

Salisbury Fire Department Reminds You About Cell Phone Ban

Maryland Cell Phone Ban Coming Friday, October 1st

September 28, 2010 – Attention drivers:  Maryland’ new cell phone ban begins Friday.  The new law will prohibit all Maryland drivers from using a cell phone without a hands free device while operating a vehicle.  To read the bill, go to the State of Maryland website, Maryland.gov, and read Senate Bill 321.

Currently, Maryland House Bill 72 and Senate Bill 98 prohibit an individual from writing or sending a text message while operating a motor vehicle in the travel portion of the roadway.

In 2008, 5,870 people were killed and an estimated 515,000 people were injured in crashes across the United States involving driver distraction - activities such as using a cell phone; using a PDA or navigation system; changing the radio, CD or Mp3 player; eating or drinking or grooming.

The Salisbury Fire Department wants to encourage everyone to take two seconds to turn off your electronic devices before starting your vehicle.  It’s up to each and every person to make sure they “Put It Down” and pay attention to the road.  The risks are simply too high!  Go to www.focusdriven.org and make the pledge to drive cell free today!

Wicomico Not Joining Delmar In Early Halloween

When I heard about Delmar's plans to move Halloween being celebrated to Friday the 29th I asked Rick Pollitt if there was any chance of Wicomico following suit. Rick said he didn't feel the Government had any authority to say when Halloween is celebrated and since traditionally its the 31st that was good enough for him.
