Allan Webster Somerset County Roots

My Somerset County Roots
My family is originally from Deal Island, Maryland and my grandfather, Howard Webster's home is still standing on Osburn Webster Road. My father, Carpenter J. Webster was a waterman and eventually moved to Baltimore to marry my mother, Ella Hopkins. As a child, I spent many summers on my Aunt Margaret and Uncle Linwood Mariner's chicken farm in Rehobeth, Maryland. I have enjoyed hunting and fishing in Kingston for over forty five years and I have lived in Marion for three and a half years with my wife, Carol Ann formerly of Crisfield, Maryland.

Mike McDermott Photo Surfaces

Mike McDermott having been stripped of all Police powers is now running around doing citations and things like a dog catcher. Mike looks happy in the photo above so when he isn't elected to be a State Delegate he has a career ready to fall back on.

Tracy Powell Now Working For Joe Albero

I had just mentioned her this morning and then I receive this little diddy in my inbox from a concerned person regarding her involvement. I would just hope that she isn't using the Foxwell case as an intro to getting interviews or advertisers for Joe. I covered her phone number but left the 443 so you could see it was her number and not Joe's.

Slum the proper way to build cooperation?

If Jim Ireton could show just a touch of self control and maybe stop calling the properties in question on the City website "slums" and maybe instead refer to them as properties in question or something it would go a long way in looking like he is willing to cooperate with the various landlords.

If you look up slum on wikipedia you get those cardboard shanty towns in Bangladesh and while these properties may not be "better homes and gardens" materials they aren't quite that bad. The point being you can't expect to work together with people when you are calling them slumlords or things like that, you are supposed to be a Mayor of a City not a little kid name calling on the playground. The legislative package will not pass and even if it did, it would lose in court so it's a no win for Jim and the City and would only waste more tax payer money.

Matt Maciarello Continues To Lead By Example

Seth Mitchell should take a page from Matt Maciarello's playbook and think through his decisions before making the thoughts public. Seth Mitchell or (Stet) as people on the street are calling him, came out pretty strong against Matt's choice to ask Davis Ruark to consider staying on to Prosecute the Sarah Foxwell case last week when the Daily Times revealed it, but now when the family has spoken up and agreed now he is more open to the idea.

This isn't smart campaigning on Seth's part to speak up so strongly and then soften it down when the winds are blowing against him. Seth told me himself when we talked he would be unable to prosecute the case because of his defense of Leggs in the past so he would have been asking someone else to come in anyway and he probably should have lost some of his animosity and thought of asking Davis himself.

Matt Maciarello is listening to everyone and not jumping to his answers until he has come up with the best solution which is something Seth needs to start doing if he wants any chance of winning.

Is Mike McCready The Front Runner For 38A?

I had Mike McCready over for an interview last week which will be airing on PAC14 and uploaded here and Mike made some very good points about his candidacy and his race with fellow Somerset native Charles Otto.

Mike has total respect for Charles and even told me Otto knows more about farming and seeds than he does, but wondered about his lack of experience in the political scene and if it would be a detriment to him in Annapolis. Mike is on his second term as a Somerset County Commissioner and feels like that experience gives him a much better understanding of how the political machine works.

Another thing that we discussed was how quiet and kind a guy Charles is and if that would also hurt him if elected. Mike spoke about needing  to be heard in Annapolis and wondered if Otto's quiet nature would allow his voice to be heard. I have talked to Charles and I do know he is a very soft spoken man. Mike is a very articulate guy and if you have a chance to talk to him he may be able to convince you to vote for him.

Davis Ruark Says We Need 30 More Police Officers

I appreciate the fact that Davis has some things to say before he leaves office, but this statement about needing 30 more Police Officers is kinda stating the obvious. The other problem I have with this is Chief Webster had complained for years and said that he needed this similar number of Officers to the City Council and anyone else who would listen or he thought could help get it done, but now Davis speaks up?

I cannot speak for Allan Webster but I am sure it would have been nice to have seen Davis join the cause when Allan was saying this same thing. It makes no sense to make the statement now because it looks like an excuse for the current Mayor and acting Chief to use regarding the crime numbers. I distinctly remember the unprecedented "cooperation" press conference after Allan was gone and the "we are going to rock the criminals world" BS that Mike Lewis spewed but no mention of the need back then. I smell politics all over this and it stinks

Gang Violence Threats At Bennett High Pep Rally??

There is a total lockdown on info coming out about this situation but rumors are out there that a shooting was supposed to have occurred last week at Bennett High School during a Pep Rally but was intercepted by law enforcement. I have zero confirmation of this because as stated if true this is stuff they don't want people to know about.

I was very happy to hear that Gary is home from Baltimore to recuperate and just want him to know that we are thinking of him and his family.

City Exodus Continues + Mike Goodson Resignation

The list of people who have left the City Of Salisbury since Jim Ireton has become Mayor shows his leadership skills are very questionable.

Karen Redderson left, Chief See, Chief Webster  an accountant in Finance Dept, someone in Public Works and the list goes on and on. The other sad part about this is at the same time 2 employees have been arrested for serious crimes in the last few months under Jim's lead.

Mike Goodson went through hell the last 2 years dealing with Debbie Campbell and Stevie Prettyman on the PAC14 issue and it is no wonder he had been looking to move away from the craziness in our area. Mike has been a tremendous asset to our Community and we will miss him badly, but know he will do well with his new life in Virginia...Good Luck Mike

Foxwell Family Wants Davis To Prosecute

I saw in the Daily Times yesterday that the Foxwell family signed a letter saying they supported Davis staying on to prosecute the case and as I stated I couldn't agree more. I do however have to take exception with Tracy Powell having any say in the Foxwell matter.

Tracy Powell had nothing to do with Sarah for the last 7 years even when she lived within 5 miles of her. Sarah and her brothers and sisters had no contact from her and Tracy never even could be bothered to send her a birthday card so for her to want to step up and be a "family"representative is a joke. You have to consider peoples motives when they pop out of the woodwork after a tragedy and find themselves being paid attention to. Tracy Powell fits in this category.

When you seek attention for something is when you should step back and ask why? Amy Fothergill and the Grandparents were the ones with the most reason to speak out on this case and they decided to let justice be served before getting in front of the cameras every chance they got. I have a big problem when people who had nothing to do with a situation before  "become" quickly involved when a camera or attention is given to them
