John Phoebus Continues Alienating Somerset Voters

This tide of disgust that many Somerset County residents continue to feel toward John Phoebus over his apparent willingness to try to "buy" his State Delegate seat continues to swell. The citizens that have contacted me about John and this behavior are across the board between Otto and Brewington supporters.

The biggest complaint is the ridiculous amount of money he is looking to get for his "events" that are outside the normal amount the ordinary Somerset citizen has to give to a candidate who is already getting big dollars from the Crisfield elite. John seems to want people to pay to see him, instead of him seeking them out which is not sitting well with voters. Julie Brewington and Charles Otto on the other hand have been going door to door getting to know the people and the issues most bothering them in this economic crisis.

John Phoebus needs to worry about his reputation after all of these events and elections are over since I can tell him right now that he has lost alot of respect from the working class people in Somerset County

Campaigning On A Hot Summer Day

Bus Drivers Refuse After School Transportation

In a clear shot across the bow to the Wicomico County Board Of Education, the Bus Drivers who the Board Of Ed is refusing to work with has said we aren't doing anything for you once the kids are taken home from School. I say this is a brilliant move and will get their attention quickly.

When parents have to take the time out of their already busy days to transport their kids to events this will have the BOE receive quite a few angry phone calls from parents who ultimately can make the BOE lives a true living hell and force them to negotiate quickly. Great job Bus Drivers and a good call.

Campaign Finance Reports and Matt Holloway

The big controversy brewing at present is in regards to Matt Holloway and his campaign Finance Report. According to Matt he has only used 20 dollars for his campaign and yet I have been getting tons of pictures of these little Matt Holloway signs along with larger ones in different locations. I don't think he could get all of these done for 20 dollars, so either he hasn't done a complete reporting or something is amiss in this campaign.

Third Friday Reviewed

This was my first "Third Friday" event at the Downtown Plaza and it won't be my last, in fact I plan on being in attendance at all of them weather permitting from this point on as they are real fun. I have been critical of Jim on almost everything he has done, but I must tip my hat to him and Urban Salisbury for this event as it is what Salisbury should be about.

Music fills the plaza from all directions, people checking out the vendors set up in the Plaza, and the best part of all was seeing the number of people who were going in the Downtown businesses who normally wouldn't even drive by them. I watched a line of people going into the art gallery, to my advertisers Deli 111, Cake Art and The Perfect Dress. I ran into several Politicians and had great one on one conversations with all. I enjoyed my time spent with Marty Pusey and I have to give a shout out to Matt Maciarello and his family who were in attendance. I was able to spend some time talking to both Matt and his Wife and got a great photo of them together as a family for their home use. Matt and his family are first class and I really enjoyed my time spent with Him and his family. Thanks Matt.

If there was a way to make Third Friday's vibe last I could actually see hope for our Downtown Plaza. After seeing the event I do start to wonder if we shouldn't close the Plaza off again and see if that would improve shoppers. It was really a great time and I am already looking forward to next month.
