Mike McDermott Squirming Like A Worm

Mike McDermott is in full spin control to keep this story about the gun on his desk from affecting his political aspirations. To insinuate that Sheriff Martin a very respected and honorable man who has served the public admirably is simply making stuff up to help a Democrat in Norm Conway keep his seat is outrageous.

Mike McDermott is not the only Republican challenger and honestly Marty Pusey is a much better choice as a Republican since she does have original ideas and doesn't recite what she hears on fox news like McDermott does. Sheriff Martin would never use his Office to launch an attack on McDermott for no reason and when the whole story comes out regarding this situation you will see what I have been saying is the truth.

Mike McDermott needs to go period, not just from the Delegate race but from Pocomoke period. How much more controversy do he and Russ Blake need to bring to Pocomoke and keep embarrassing the citizens before something is done. As a citizen of Wicomico County crime capital USA, I looked into the drug initiative plans that Berlin has in place that have been so effective at getting drugs off the streets and seeing which other municipalities in Worcester were following suit. Wouldn't you know it the Mayor of Pocomoke Mike McDermott wasn't for the plan. Why would the Mayor of Pocomoke be against a drug plan that has been proven to work, from helping the citizens in Pocomoke?

One can only hope that this incident with the gun begins to peel back the many layers in Pocomoke so the true Mike McDermott is displayed for all the world to see.

Life In Pocomoke REPOST

"Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Mike McDermott Squirming Like A Worm":

As a long, long time resident of Pocomoke City ("The Friendliest Town on the Eastern Shore") this whole article disgusts me. I have read the Daily Times and the blog sites and all this does is just reinforce the disgust and nausea that overcomes me when I think about how big a cesspool Pocomoke has become and is. To fully understand the matter you need to go back into time.

Up until about the mid 70's, Pocomoke was still a sleepy little town full of charm and good citizens who took pride in the looks and appearance of their property and carried about the welfare of other neighbors. There were no developments around - unless you consider White Oak off Homewood Drive. We shopped at A. & P., Drug Fair, Jimmy's Sub Shop, Larry's Market, Acme and shopped downtown.

The mayors and city council members were some of Pocomoke's finest citizens - outstanding public servants who always tried to better Pocomoke.

Several things occured almost simultaneously that changed Pocomoke forever: City Manager Russell Blake started turning Pocomoke into a section 8 haven and because of the large influx of blacks and "poor people", the middle class started fleeing the city limits of Pocomoke. New developments suddenly popped up in the area off Lakeland Drive and Buck Harbor Road.

Secondly, the crack cocaine epidemic which started manifesting itself in the mid 1980's, nationwide, finally found its way to Pocomoke by the early 1990's. By then, the housing and apartments were turning into "projects" with the drugs, pit bulls, and "transient significant others" (usually avoiding child support).

Thirdly, under Frank White, the Pocomoke Police Department denigrated into a corrupt, internally crooked, amateur organization that was spared the Grand Jury indictment by one stinking vote. Don't believe me? Ask anyone who lived in Pocomoke during that sad era.

Fourth - the Honiss Cane factor. Honiss helped turn the town into a defacto drug supply warehouse via his two sons, Honiss Jr. and Dwayne. Everyone knew about it but due to Cane and his relationship with Blake and the NCAAP, no one could do anything about it.

Fifth - lack of information/ignorance. With today's blogs, instant communication's, cell phone cameras and texting - a lot of that stuff that happened in the past would be hard to duplicate but it, in fact, happened.

Enter the esteemed Mr. McDermott. He has now taken his place in the Pocomoke Hall of Shame for a variety of reasons but hidden agendas, malfeasance of office, arrogance, and ineptitude are his main sins, let alone the open tolerance of Russell Blake, Honiss Cane, and their minions iin the open drug market toleration and corruption toleration. He is but a small piece in the sad downfall of Pocomoke but it should at least be publized as he is now desiring a "higher office".

Those who vote for Mr. McDermott are satisfied with corruption, cronyism, and malfeasance. Is that truly the type of representative you actually want? I pity you if you do. I figured you would hold out for a higher moral and professional standard.

PLEASE do not vote party lines in the general election. Do your due diligence by studying your candidates, their platforms, their positions but MOST OF ALL study their character and prior histories. Pocomoke City deserves no less. "

John Phoebus Campaign Controversy

The Somerset County Republican Central Committee is not at all pleased with John with his open support of Democrat Kristy Hickman. It is an unwritten code of conduct about supporting your party candidates that John has thrown out the window for his campaign, that has really caused some of the hard core Republicans in Somerset to turn on John. It has caused some very hard feeling between the Dan Powell and John Phoebus supporters I can tell you that.
