I had a good conversation with SPD Rank and File and they really seemed upset at the talk of Ernie Leatherbury getting the job of Chief since they really like Ivan Barkley. If I was Jim I would sit down and talk to these people and listen to what they have to say and any concerns they have before you make any announcement about the next Chief.

Welcome To Salisbury 2013

I stepped into the Salisbury Time Machine and traveled to 2013 and looked at what the City will look like if Jim gets his way with SAPOA. The entire City at least 60% was boarded up, crime was rampant and the owner occupied homes had all hired personal security to protect their property. Homes were selling for 20 thousand and most of the drug cartels from Mexico and Detroit were buying them up. Jim Ireton was running for Re-election with the moto "Look it can't get worse", and the GOB had to be moved to the National Guard Armory. Luckily at that point as I was being approached by armed thugs I stepped back into the time machine and returned to today..whew what a scary ride

Personal Attacks Continue

Another day and a new round of personal attacks on local candidates by both GA Harrison and Albero. Don't waste your time going to look, it basically is attacking Julie saying she couldn't be understood and Mike Calpino because of his blog from 2004 and his attempt to live on his boat with his family. There is no debating their politics, it is just the same old song and dance from sbynews.

If I wanted I could go after their opponents in the same hard core fashion, ask anyone that hooked up with Stevie Prettyman before she was married to email me, but this behavior is not what is needed. I dislike Stevie and have made no effort to hide it, I think she is part of the problem and that she is clueless and has been in her seat for to long and it is time for a change and fresh ideas.

Mike Calpino would embarrass her if they were to debate and trust me I mean embarrass in a huge way. Mike is a idealist and should be admired for putting himself and his beliefs that our Country should do better out for the world to see. The more the behavior like that continues it just shows the true desperation of the people who are honestly scared of losing power. Study the facts and don't be sidetracked with the personal stuff.

Wicomico County Council Needs To Help The Bus Drivers

The Wicomico County School Bus Contractors Association have been forced by a lack of action on the part of the Board of Education to hire TJ Maloney to try to get a deal done before the School system starts. The drivers want more than a year to year contract and told the Council they feel disrespected by the BOE handling of their contract. TJ explained that the drivers don't want more money; what they are seeking is a fairer contract and a true seat at the bargaining table.

First, drivers want a five-year contract, instead of a year-to-year one, given that buying a bus costs roughly $100,000 and takes several years to pay off. Second, drivers want to establish a grievance board to hear cases filed by drivers facing disciplinary action. Maloney said currently the transportation director and superintendent settle appeals made by drivers.

Maloney said the Bus Contractors Association objects to the school system's plan to install GPS tracking systems in all buses. First off, he said, the buses are privately owned. Second, Maloney said, buses don't need the technology when they already have two-way radios, video and audio recording systems, panic buttons and a tracking chip that stores information about the bus route.

The Board Of Education need to treat these people better since it is they who have all the responsibility of getting the School children to and from School safely every single day. I am disapointed that this has gone on so long that now School is right around the corner and it seems that the BOE has no plans on budging. I hope that someone will step in with forced mediation and get an agreement they both can accept in a timely fashion as it is something that has been needing to be done for a long time.

Rick Hoppes Should Be Next Salisbury Fire Chief

I had a chance to talk with Rick at the National night out and asked him if he still wanted the job, to which he replied yes and that he had put in his application twice. Look I know the Career and Volunteers will never agree on a new Fire Chief but like him or hate him at least they know what they have in Hoppes. He knows the job and it's time this uncertainty comes to an end in the Salisbury Fire Department, let Jim Ireton know by clicking here that you support Rick Hoppes.

My Thoughts On Salisbury's National Night Out

It was the first time I remember them having it at the City Park as it has been traditinally held at Doverdale playground( which I talked to Lore Chambers who told me they are having it over there as well this year).
I felt it was a bit more crowded with all the tables being set up on the bridge instead of spread over the entire park like Doverdale, but was impressed with the number of people who made it out.

I Really didn't see any politicians out however. Jim Ireton pretended I wasn't in existence and tried his best to avoid me which was fine I understood. Mike Lewis same thing which again suited me fine as I had no desire to talk to him either, maybe he knew I wasn't going to take his picture?. I did talk to Davis Ruark, Ernie Leatherbury and Ivan Barkley however and all seemed to be making out fine even with all the rumors flying. I must add that the SPD members I spoke to are supportive of Ivan Barkley and weren't excited over the Ernie Leatherbury rumors. I also spent some time talking to John Pick and Chief Hoppes who still would like the job he has been doing for over a year now(post about this later)

I actually had some people come up and shake my hand and tell me they were secret fans of mine which I have to say I really appreciated. I did almost projectile vomit however when Jim started in on his crime is down BS speech again, but I'm not going to waste more time on that in this post. It's ashamed it takes a one time a year event like this for the community to get out and meet different politicians and law enforcement.
