In these economic times, Annapolis shouldn’t balance the budget on the backs of hard-working Marylanders. Government can balance its budget the same way working families do – by doing more with less. John Phoebus will fight to repeal or even reduce the 20% sales tax increase passed by the liberal General Assembly and will fight to eliminate the corporate income tax that drives many businesses and jobs to neighboring states.
WORKING FOR WATERMEN AND FARMERS
When one looks at recent laws passed by the General Assembly, it appears that liberal lawmakers from the Western Shore have declared war on the working waterman and the family farmer. O’Malley has drastically reduced oystering on the Chesapeake Bay and there is every indication that, if left unchecked, crabbing is next.
Farmers have been under attack for years by special interest groups through runoff regulations and laws that enable anyone to sue a farmer. Throughout the years farmer have done their part to help clean up the Bay. Before any new regulations get placed on this important Delmarva industry, wastewater treatment plants on the western shore should do their part, as well. Keeping the Bay clean is the responsibility of many industries which affect it, not just the farmers.
Liberal lawmakers have thrown out the important legal concept that a person must have “standing” to sue, enabling anyone with an agenda, to bring suits. Farmers should not be hauled into court by special interest groups who mix politics with lawsuits.
REPRESENTING THE INTERESTS OF THE LOWER EASTERN SHORE
John Phoebus knows the issues that are important to the residents of the Lower Eastern Shore and agrees with the values of its citizens. Smaller government, lower taxes, and decreased regulations will all help working families keep more of each paycheck and help the businesses that create and maintain jobs to stay open. John Phoebus will be a strong, conservative voice in Annapolis for the citizens of District 38A.
Editor's Note: I still believe John is the best man for the job, so please don't let his doing Albero's show make you blind to his message.
